OK KO is on again!! A bunch of episodes have been coming out this month on the app and on TV. WHACKY JAXXXYZ is maybe my favorite episode ever so I wanted to post about it first. Here’s a perfect clip on YouTube. We need the Emmy:
I could just… repeat… line after line… from this episode. “What wolf?” “What fangs?” “What Tournament??!!?!?!” I love Johnny (”his deal: ?????”) and Nanini (”…. that’s nice.”) and as always, most of all, K.O. (”You know I can’t multitask. I only have one brain!”)

A couple of moody interiors from the OK K.O. Halloween Special Monster Party, drawn by me and painted by William Gibbons.
I love these backgrounds from Bittersweet Rivals in the Point Prep Arc. Some very cool ones, but my favorite is the sunset painted by William Gibbons.
Also included here: The tippy top of Point Prep, the view below, and a front and reverse view of Enid, Elodie, Koala Princess, and Miss Pastel’s living room. These are my layouts, painted by William for the top four and Emily Walus for the downshot. Art direction by John Pham.

Here are some master shots I drew and William Gibbons painted for CN City, from OK K.O.’s awesome Crossover Nexus special! This episode was crazy fun to draw! We had soooo much to cram in. Ian kept giving Daniella and I notes for more, specific show/promo/character references throughout the episode… and I’m glad audiences appreciated it!!!! I love this video from The Roundtable catching EVERY(!?) CN reference and easter egg. Did he catch them all? Maybe these will help!

Mystery Science Fair 201X, our tribute to another Cartoon Network classic, was the first episode of OK KO to take place at Lakewood Elementary as well as Dendy’s laboratory.
It was especially challenging to design the laboratory’s overlapping planes of foreground and background in as few drawings as possible, while matching up with a few key shots. We’re aping Dexter’s laboratory, but that show’s art style has a lot of goofy flat shapes, whereas we try to make everything 3-dimensional and solid. We found a middle ground that looked great across every scene. The animation team really picked up on this and used our shapes and spaces very well. I’m proud of how much better we all get as we work on the show!
This episode was boarded by Ryann Shannon and Parker Simmons. William Gibbons and Emily Walus painted backgrounds - William did the classroom and the school and the lily pad, Emily painted the splitscreen and the laboratory scenes above. Art direction by John Pham!

Here’s Painwreck by the Shade’OBoyz by me, from KO’s Video Channel. @cartoonfuntime wrote the lyrics!!!!!! Was very honored to contribute. The midi drums are pretty messy, I played them with my typing keyboard and not to a click track. Maybe someday I will do a tighter version, but I hope this is fun to listen to anyways.

Here’s a BG I painted from ep 38 of O.K. K. O. “Parents’ Day” It went through a few iterations, but I thought each one looked kind of cool so I wanted to post them all. First I painted a day pallet, but then I thought I had it wrong and so I changed it to night. But turns out it was supposed to be day, but we wanted the lighting less extreme so we dulled it out. Diego Molano (@victorandvalentino) did the lineart! With art direction from John Pham.
