đš for me to use a line from my favorite movie as a starter

â No, itâs not sad, Mr. White. Itâs nature. Itâs a world of everything dying and eating each other right beneath our feet. â
â Ah, that must have sucked, â Ashe said, sucking a breath in through her teeth. â I was lucky - my aunt knew what my parents had done to me, at least somewhat, and figured out that no I didnât have something wrong with my head I was genuinely sensing other peopleâs emotions. It helped a lot. âÂ
For a moment she could sense some kind of questioning-querying from his mind and made a pitched guess based on what sheâd said. â Trust me, in my time at work, Iâve come across plenty of people whoâve had to deal with bad therapists, â Ashe said. â They always, uniformly, do more harm than good, harm I and the others then have to work to treat. And the issues they give people, gaslighting them like that! Half our best people have uncertainty over how reliable they are, because of bad therapists.â She sets her cup down, gestures mildly. â Iâd understand if you reported them. â
âWhat? No, God no, I couldnât be fucked reporting them. They were like, seven therapists ago anyway â I couldnât tell you who the fuck they were even if I did see them again, or if I did recognise them I couldnât even for sure tell you they were the right therapist.â Alex shrugged, and swirled the dregs of his coffee around the bottom of his cup, watching as flashes of stark white ceramic showed through the murky liquid. There was probably a metaphor in there somewhere, but he couldnât be fucked to find it.
A pause, and then he lifted his cup to drain the last remnants of his coffee, setting it down again with a soft chink of ceramic against wood. âAnyway,â he said, âThat was all in the past. I mean, it probably wouldâve helped if someone believed me when I was little, but hey, what can you do?â
Ashe offers a small smile. âFind people who understand you now?â she suggests. âLack of belief in what you have to say and think and believe as a child can manifest in self-doubt later, canât it? So finding friends, or at least people, who do understand and do believe you is important to ...â she taps her finger on her cup. âWell, not fix the issues. But it helps, Iâve found.â
She shrugs, smiles down at her cup. âBut then, youâre a telepath. Youâve probably got most of this figured out already.â She swirls her cup then looks back up. âAnd... there may be ways of finding out who the therapists were, if you decide you ever do want to do something about them.â
