Remedy
Adele "Remedy" lyrics I remember all of the things that I thought I wanted to be So desperate to find a way out of my world And finally breath Right before my eyes I saw my heart it came to life This ain't easy, it's not meant to be Every story has its scars But When the pain cuts you deep When the night keeps you from sleeping Just look and you will see That I will be your remedy When the world seems so cruel And your heart makes you feel like a fool I promise you will see That I will be I will be... your remedy No river is too wide or too deep for me to swim to you Come whatever I'll be the shelter that won't let the rain come through Your love it is my truth And I will always love you Love you, ahhh When the pain cuts you deep When the night keeps you from sleeping Just look and you will see That I will be your remedy When the world seems so cruel And your heart makes you feel like a fool I promise you will see That I will be, I will be your remedy Oh Oh When the pain cuts you deep When the night keeps you from sleeping Just look and you will see I will be, I will be When the world seems so cruel And your heart makes you feel like a fool I promise you will see That I will be I will be I will be your remedy
Always Pray
"Always pray and never give up." Luke 18:1 There are moments in life where those simple six words are harder to live then you could ever expect. Life brings you challenge after challenge and forces you to consider, "What would happen if I did give up?". You run scenario after scenario through your mind trying to analyze all the outcomes if you decided to throw the towel in. What would life be like if we could pray like we are truly meant to? I am so bold to think that the "giving up" scenarios would not consume our thoughts. Rather our thoughts would be filled with the motivation we need to stay ahead of whatever race we are running. Lately, the importance of consistent and meaningful prayer has been a constant, in-my-face reminder. I lie here thinking of how I am my own worse critic, chastising myself for every imperfection I can remember. And it hits me...."When's the last time you truly prayed this week Ashley?". It's a testimonial in itself of how better my walk in life is when time is made for prayer. Lord, I pray tonight for You to take control of my thoughts and actions. Give me the strength and motivation You know I require in order to go to prayer always and never give up. On the outside giving up isn't an option, but on the inside the walls are cracking, waiting for the big break. Don't let them break, Lord. I want to do Your will in all things. Amen.
When you feel the good Lord is with you, you stop and appreciate all the beautiful things He has given you. Not the things He has taken away. #kneedroppermoment #ItsAllinHowYouSeeIt

Choose Happiness
Never forget who you are. The things you’ve accomplished and the life you’ve lived. It’s not all been perfect. It’s not all been good. But you are the only person who can allow your actions to define you. When others define you, it is because you have let them. Don’t let them. Define yourself. If you are not happy with the self you see, change it. Only you can change you. But be certain to pick the very best version of you that you can give. When you find happiness within yourself, you will find happiness in the world around you, in your environment. It’s not an easy road to finding happiness in yourself. But it’s not an impossible journey. It starts with God. It starts with you. You are the only person who can make this one life as worthwhile as it was intended to be. You are the only person that can impact your thoughts, actions and passion. You may think others do but the root to that statement is that you allow it. Do things for others because you want to. Not because you are obligated to. Live life. You only get this one chance. Don’t live it in regret or sorrow. Leave the past where it lays and change the future as needed. Only you can shape your future. The choice is yours. Choose to be the happiest version of you.
Philippians 4:8 - Enough Said
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
True. Honorable. Right. Pure. Lovely. Admirable. To sit and think of thoughts that fit in one or all of these categories, is such an easy thing to do. To think of this verse when we need it the most, not always so easy to do.
Can you say that when your boss hits you with a frustrating moment that you adjust those harsh thoughts into something that is admirable? Can you imagine how your day would finish if your thoughts are still pure and lovely after you’ve answered question number 37 for the day and none of your to-do list items are considered done? I challenge you to find the positives in every situation and adjust your thoughts to something true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and admirable.
They say if you do anything for 21 days it becomes a habit. Try to live this verse and go to prayer each time your life gives you a challenging moment and see how you are left feeling at the conclusion of the experiment. I imagine if you don’t feel refreshed and rejuvenated that you truly didn’t focus on all the options Philippians 4:8 gives you.
Lord challenge me to come to You in prayer for all my needs. Help me remember to think of the right things in order to shape my mind to thoughts that are rewarding and pure. I want to live and think the way You offer through Your teachings, but I need help in getting there. Help me.
Give the World the Best You You Got
“Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.” 1 Peter 2:12
How easy is it to allow the world’s influences to define your character? Someone belittles you and you allow it to sink in so deep that you start belittling yourself. Or one mistake or action is now the ultimate definition of who you are.
To me, this verse is given to us as a reminder. A reminder to live the best possible version of ourselves no matter what worldly influence we live through, good or bad, our fault or not. Not only does giving the world the very best of ourselves work in God’s favor, but it also shapes how we see ourselves and gives us that confidence we need to live through each adventure the day may bring.
It’s not always easy, it’s not always pleasant. But always strive to live life as God intended for you and see if your life isn’t enriched, and full of blessings.
Lord remind me to go straight to prayer when the world throws me a curve. Hold my tongue and actions and fill my heart with You. So that I may exemplify the very best version of me that You created. Remind me each moment I need it that I am all You intended me to be and to not allow the distractions change my intended purpose in the life You’ve given me.
Weakness is Not the Enemy
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans." Romans 8:26
Have you ever had that day where you felt like nothing could go right, and failure greets you down every path? As you dwell on the negatives, your motivation to be successful that day grows weak and it leaves you to wonder…..”What am I even doing?”
I envy the people that are able to say you’ve never felt that. As life’s trials hit me head on, sometimes there are days that leave me wondering that very question. As well as similar questions “Can I ever make them happy?” “Do they appreciate what I’m even doing?” “Why should I keep trying?” “Why does this happen to me?”
Whatever your version is of that statement, you can take comfort in the message that you are never alone. Someone else is out there that has thought the same question and felt the same emotions that stem from feeling unsatisfied. How can we get out of the slump that creeps in our lives?!
The answer is simple, put our weakness in the Holy Spirit’s hands and embrace the situation as an opportunity to grow even closer to the purpose the Lord has for you on this Earth! He will take care of you with out complaint. If we look at the weakness as an enemy to our soul, we will fail to overcome the situation.
But, if we embrace the weakness in every moment we are given, and look to the Lord for answers, we will be swimming in the comfort He can provide us. We will grow even more in the faith that He gave us. The foundation of being a Christian has already been laid in each of our hearts. The trials we go through are the bricks that are used to build the “church” within our souls in order to have an internal place to worship God in everything we do!
Lord continue to help remind me that you only give me what you know I can handle. You provide me with tools in order to build my core structure to ensure my walk with you is solid and strong. As I feel weakness in a moment, take that negative feeling from my heart and mind, and fill it with the positive reinforcement needed to overcome the situation. To learn and grow from the experiences you give me, and to share the lessons to further provide proof of the awesomeness of your workings. And let me always know that if I feel I don’t have a prayer left in me to get me through a moment all I have to do is look to you, as you always know exactly what I need. It’s your blessings that have gotten me this far in my life, and I live only to do your will! You will always provide exactly what I need. Amen.
God's Purpose for my Insecurities
Insecurity and pressure are two words that by definition are not directly related but when involved in the same emotional mindset, go hand and hand in the impact they make. I notice myself allowing my insecurities to take precedent over my realities, strongest when I lack the obedience to stay in tune with my devotionals. When I put God to the side and focus on things to worry about, my insecurities flood to the forefront of my relationships. I set my self up for failure even before my day begins when I’m not putting God first.
Insecurities lead to all kinds of thoughts and pressure. Pressure on myself to be the best, to read people’s mind, and to please everyone who walks in my path. Pressure on my friends to be certain to put me first and be the absolute best friend I strive to be to them. Pressure on my family to make me feel important, included and loved just as much, if not more, than the next relative. Pressure on the squirrel who walked across the street interrupting my drive to walk faster in a game of chicken, car versus rodent.
But seriously, who am I to allow my insecurities to define expectations that NO ONE can live up to. Who am I to allow my perfectionist nature be the driving force of my life, ultimately setting bars I or my friend/family/squirrel can never truly reach, which puts me in an endless cycle of insecurities, worries, pressure, repeat. The common force behind all the struggle is a lack of Godly devotion and prayer for the worldly things to remain as trivial and unimportant as they truly are, and for God to be number one in my life like He’s defined to be.
It’s amazing the conversation I can have with myself when I’m living Gods way verses living my way. It’s amazing the peace, patience, and definite sense of purpose that is evident when God’s ruling my thoughts. I invite you all to find God like I can find God. The truth is, you can’t ever push the worldly hectic insecurities from your life. But, you can remind yourself of the purpose God has put you here for, insecurities and all.
Here’s my prayer: Lord, the world tries to break me down with troubling thoughts that poke at my insecurities. But, help remind me that You gave me my insecurities in order to mold me into a tool for You to use. You made me just as You intended to, with no mistakes. So please help remind me of that when the world tries to take me out of focus from what You created me for. Help rid me of the distractions that darken my walk with You. Be with me through my every day trials, reminding me that I will stray in my emotions but I will always find my way back to You and Your selflessness. May I strive to be more like you and less like the expectation I have set for myself.

Prepare My Way Lord
"…Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you and he will prepare your way…" Mark 1:2
Originally, this verse identifies John the Baptist. But, it can also serve as a constant reminder that as our faith is put in God’s hands, and God’s purpose for/in our lives, He will provide a messenger/guide to prepare the way He intends for us to have. Our human instincts teach us to be afraid of unknowns, but fear of unknowns, to me, identifies lack of full trust that God’s way for you is the right way. Why do we try to identify the meaning behind things when God provides the meaning for all things in His will and direction of our futures?
Lord, I look forward to and continue to strive for full release of my worries and placement of “my way” to being 110% in Your hands. I know the serene and blissful feeling that will be provided is a feeling I will never want to lose. God, YOU…ARE… the light in any darkness in my life’s journey, and the answer to all the unknown questions. Be with me as You are always, and please continue to bless the way You have chosen for me.
"Catastrophic" Reminder
As I am lying in bed, unable to sleep from the overwhelming weight of items on my mind. The first thing, after my memorized to-do list, that comes forward are all the ways God has shown me and reminded me that life isn’t about my overwhelming list of worldly items. It’s about living for God and for His purpose in my life.
It’s amazing how God reminds you… He’s in control! After what felt like a tremendously intense day, I started explaining it and only had 3 sentences to share. In the moment, things can seem catastrophic. In reality, NOTHING is too great for God to handle. Let it go, and let God work. It’s so easy to get carried up in life! And God keeps saying to me “Ashley, I’ve got this.” At least God knows all….especially that I am only human, striving to be like God, but exemplifying human tendencies.
He pulled through for me today like He does everyday, and I am left chastising myself for over responding as the circumstances presented themselves. So, I will continue with my reoccurring prayer “Lord, catastrophic circumstances are only those things if I let them be. I continue to pray for the guidance and refuge You provide; for the reminders You send on a daily bases identifying that Your purpose and blessings provide a larger catastrophic impact on my life then my trivial, human hurdles; and that You will continue to focus my mind on You in order to push aside the menial worldly items that blind me.”
