“What do you mean you can’t make it today? There are free drinks though” my workmate said as I tell her I can’t come to the party later

 “I have to take Chae Yoon to her dad, she’s staying with him for the weekend” I answered briefly, she already knew what I meant

 I only stopped typing on my computer to look at her and why she’s not replying to me, I found her just staring at me deep in thought

 “I still don’t get why you two called it off, you two were-“

“I know, but some things just don’t work out” I muttered, returning back to my work.

There were a lot of surprises in my life, good ones and bad ones. Chae Yoon being the best one, she’s the reason for my very being, the light of my life. And I guess my ex-fiancé’s too. Jaehyun and I may have our fair share of shortcomings but never when it comes to our daughter.

We both know that she comes first no matter what.  

When we decided to call it off a few months ago, we swore that her well being comes above everything. Whatever failures we’ve had as a couple has got nothing to do with our daughter and we know that, I don’t have a single ounce of doubt when it comes to Jaehyun being a good father to her.

“Okay, tell Jae I said hi and give the little one a few hugs from me” she said gathering her stuff, I was about to make my way out too, “Will do, see you on Monday”.

Working 8 hours a day and having a 10 month old baby is not the easiest thing, sometimes I feel like I’m failing at being her mom but I know I’m trying my best.

I made my way to my neighbour’s house where Chae Yoon usually stays at when I’m not around, she used to be a pre-school teacher but is in break for now so she offered to take Chae Yoon in when I’m busy.

I knocked on her door waiting for her to answer, “Y/N-ah, you’re a bit early today” she greeted me with a smile and a hug

“Hi unnie, yea well I’m taking her to Jaehyun’s” I answered, she nodded understanding how our situation works

“She’s in the living room, she just woke up so she’s a bit grumpy”

I spot my little girl on the playmat, looking a little bored with her toy. If someone ask me to describe Chae Yoon the easiest way to do it is to just say she’s practically the mini girl version of Jaehyun, I tell him every time how it’s not fair that I carried her for nine months only to look exactly like him. Right down to the adorable dimples.

Not that I’m complaining, I just like saying it to him. Jaehyun gets really happy every time someone tells him they look alike.

“Hey, princess. How are you? Mama missed you so much” I said to her as I pick her up and prop her on my waist

She just looked up at me with a big smile on her face, similar to her father’s.

“We’re going to dada today, you miss him?” at the mention of dada she started to squeal and move around my arms getting very excited

“She’s not here, angel. We’ll see him later. Thank you noona. Dinner on me the next time okay?” I turned to the older lady who was watching us with a fond smile on her face

“What did I tell you? Don’t worry about it, I like taking care of this one. Enjoy your weekend, both of you”

We quickly bid goodbye and walked back to my apartment carrying Chae Yoon who was babbling away,

“How about you say mama or dada” I tell her as I unlock the door, I could hear her mumble a few more syllables but never forming a full word

“It’s okay, you can learn again tomorrow. You don’t have to grow up quickly, you can be mommy and daddy’s little girl forever” I said then held her up making her giggle. She has always been an easy baby, never crying that much, always smiling.

After packing up her stuff and taking a quick snack with me incase she gets hungry I made my way out of the apartment. I quickly dialled Jaehyun’s number waiting for him to pick up

 “Hey, sorry I’m still in a meeting. Are you driving to my place now?” he asked

 “No, I’m still at the apartment. Will you take long?”

 “Not sure, maybe an hour at most. Sorry I wasn’t expecting this” worry was clear in his voice, I just smiled knowing he was doing the best he could

“It’s fine no worries, I’ll take her for a walk. Call me when you’re done” we bid our goodbyes then I made my way out, putting my daughter on her stroller opting to leave my car

“How about we pick up dinner for you and dada? I doubt he has time to make something tonight or if he had time to go the grocery this week” I told her, she barely understands me but I always talk to her like this

“What do you think he’ll want for dinner? Pizza? Salad? Sushi? Not sushi?” I listed making her laugh at me for no reason

I stopped by and grabbed some dinner for them, then made my way to Jaehyun’s office. Chae Yoon was starting to fall asleep so I hurriedly walked trying to wake her up a bit since it’s getting too late for a short nap.

Arriving at the building he’s working at, I rode the elevator to the floor he’s in. I was about to walk to the reception area when I hear someone calling my name

The younger lord needed some social interaction, very very much needed social interaction.

The dull pink colored walls should be enough to calm her down, creating hues around her with the soft toned lights. Instead, she feels the tiniest bit nervous, fidgeting in her steps as she moves behind her friend, eyes flickering from the corner of the store to another. If the workers there did not know her and Alannah, the one that had accompanied her at this small, chic lingerie store in the mall, they would probably think that she is meaning to steal—which is far from the case, but of course, anyone could consider so from the sight of her flustered expression.

Exuding art in every step, Alannah had finally found the time to hang out with her friend, engineering study aside and her own career put to a halt. Everything seems to be glitter, sunshine and rainbows for Alannah, even jumping a bit on her step as she moves further inside the shop, moving past the bottom sections and moving towards the bras, picking some up from their racks before looking at them with intent.

Running on a few hours of sleep, when she had agreed with Alannah to meet up to buy what would be considered ‘more fitted, sexier bras’, she thought Alannah was joking…and yet, she wasn’t. It’s normal occurrence for the engineering student to go to that mall and visit the boutique, feminine and delicate in all its expanse, but she, herself, as an architecture student doesn’t frequent the place. Much less does she care about the proper garments that Alannah always seems to be gushing about. As long as there is some support and the bands of the bras are not uncomfortable, she is down for it.

Though, the feeling of freedom of her own fingers sliding across her back to grasp at the back of the bra and undoing it after a long day of doing the absolute most at university and work could never and would never compare to anything other than poetic bliss.

Her friend disagrees, quite clearly, taking a lace mint green bra and pushing it towards her chest and over her shirt, Alannah’s tongue sticking out from the corner of her lips, looking at her chest momentarily before sighing. “Are you sure you don’t want a push-up bra? Those can make you feel like you are trying your best even if you’re not.”

Then again, there is a reason as to why she is so embarrassed and mortified while being there…and it is because Alannah’s best friend coexists and works in that same spot. The silent, ever fashionable, too chill to be real and too cool to be true guy that sits by the counter and has all the know-nothing, typically attracted individuals to the boutique. She is not one of them, but going out with Alannah translates to giving Yoonoh a visit. “I could try one. I’m trying to battle a concept here with my new bra.” Though, she tries to be comfortable—maybe, all she needs is to enjoy going shopping for once, without really thinking of how expensive underwear is…even when, in most occasions, she is the only one to see it.
