asher stumbled back a step from the collision, one hand tightening around the coffee he’d nearly dropped. he blinked, looking up from where he’d been distractedly scrolling through hockey stats on his phone. “yeah, i’m good,” he said with a small laugh, slipping his phone into his pocket. “pretty sure i wasn’t paying attention either, so we’re probably both guilty.”
his gaze flicked briefly to the gym bag slung over dakota’s shoulder before returning to his face. “at least neither of us ended up flat on the sidewalk. that would’ve been way more embarrassing.”
Dakota's hand had reached out on reflex when he noticed the coffee in the other man's hand. Grabbing the other one to help stabalize him. Once everything seemed okay, he let go and listened to the other man. He smiled as he took off his earbuds and listened to the other. "I guess halfsies are okay in this situation then." He said with a dramatic sigh as if it was a rather inconvenient for him.
"I would never fall down like that. I'm to graceful." Dakota oh-so-humbly said with a playful smirk on his face. "Is the coffee shop near here good? I'm still new to town, so I'm trying to find out all the good spots."
asher let out a quiet laugh, the tension from almost wearing his coffee finally fading. “graceful, huh?” he echoed with an amused smile. “i’ll take your word for it.” he glanced down at the cup in his hand before looking back at dakota. “it’s actually pretty good. i stop here before work more often than i probably should.” a sheepish smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “if you’re into coffee, i’d say it’s worth trying. they’ve got really good pastries too.”
“you said you’re new?” he asked, shifting the cup into his other hand. “welcome, then. i’m asher.” he offered his free hand with a small, polite smile. “if you need recommendations beyond coffee, i can probably help. i’ve lived here long enough to know a few decent spots.”
Dakota Pierce let out a soft sigh as he threw his bag over one of his shoulders. The bag had some of his dance clothes in it as well as some basic supplies one needs for a shower. The dance studio he had practiced at was thankfully next to the gym he just got a membership for, so he was able to pretty much go next door and get a shower in so he didn't have to worry about stinking up the road anymore than it was on his walk home.
He began making his way home with his earbuds in. Lost in the music and humming softly to it, he let out a surprised grunt as he found himself bumping into someone. "Ah, crap," Dakota says as he takes his headphones out of his ears and offers the other person a apologetic smile. "My bad man. You okay?"
