Follow me to Hell

“You’d be surprised.” she answers. “Oh you did? Anyone special or jsut a one night stand?”

“Well, I had a feeling tha- hang on a minute, you think I’m pretty?” Will asked, fluttering his eyelashes.

“Pick any day and come to the gym with me. I pinned a guy who was twice my size last week,” Arleigha grins. “Good to know I won’t be a bother,” she takes the drink, taking a sip.

“Damn, alright you can protect me whenever you like.” She says raising her glass to her lips again. “Hey considering most people annoy me just by you know, existing, so there’s that.” She replies before taking another drink. 

“I’m offended by how little faith you have in me,” Arleigha laughs. “Thanks,” Arl nods, “probably will. Though I make no promises that I won’t fall asleep here. I may or may not have gotten very little sleep lately.”

“Guess you’ll have to prove your toughness to me. I mean serial killers? Thats some tough shit to go up against.” Ash shrugs, settling back into her chair after passing Arleigha her drink. “No complaints from me it is happens.”

“Yeah, a little,” Arleigha laughs. “I’ll protect you all from the serial killers,” Arl grins. She watches Asher walk to the cabinet, shrugging in response. “Sure, why not?“ Arl smiles.

“Great, so we’ll both die.” She chuckles, relaxing into the easy banter. “Alright.” She pours them both a glass after retrieving the second from the shelf. “May even help you sleep a little better when you go back home.” 

“Get a part time job then. Or one that lets you still be able to write while doing it.” She shrugs. “No I didn’t, I tend to get the number of the sober ones.” 

“Oh shove that I wouldn’t fit shit up your ass. It’s a job, it pays.” She counters. “Gotta do somethin’ till your famous dufus.” She teases before getting their coffee ready. “See just do it for the stories. And yeah, it was interesting... only let her stay up there cause she was hot as hell.”

“Of course you will.” Ash replies. “Come work at the bar, I can give you a few shifts, nothing crazy.” She offers already grabbing two mugs for coffee. “Had a girl do a full coyote ugly on me last night. Half naked dancing on the bar.” 

“I don’t bring brownies to strangers. Honestly, I only bring food to people I like,” Arleigha replies. “Yep, we’ll be great,” Arl nodded. “Nope, Aura will try to cuddle everyone she ever meets, even serial killers. If it’s left to her and Bella, we’re doomed.”

“Oh so you do like me.” She laughs then waves a hand. “Alright that joke is getting old. I’ll move on.” She Nods. “Yup we are doomed.” She pushes out of her seat then moving to a cabinet across the room. “If I can’t have coffee I’m having whiskey. Will help me sleep anyways.” She reaches for a glass then the decanter. “Want one?” 

“It is pretty weird. Makes it easier to meet people though. Since I’m not the type to go introduce myself with a muffin basket when people move in,” Arl grins. “Ah well me and my sleepless self would probably be awake and would come protect you,” Arl laughs. “I’d send Aurania, but she’d definitely just try to cuddle everyone, the silly dog.”

“Says the woman who just came bearing freshly baked brownies.” Asher counters with a grin of her own. Se lets out a laugh at what she says next. “Between you, my useless self and the digs all should be well.” She shakes her head, looking over to Bella who is passed out on the couch. “Hope Aurania is a better watch dog then Bella here.”

“I’m here because I have psychic powers and I knew you were dreaming about me.”

“ohh, you wish, pretty boy.” She rolls her eyes. “Really, what the hell are you doin’ here.” 

“Glad we’re on the same page,” Arleigha chuckles. “Yeah, it’s one of the things he and I don’t have in common. We both spend a lot of our free time there, so I’m not surprised,” Arl laughs. “Ah yeah I had noticed,” she grins.

“Seems most of the neighborhood spends a lot of time there. Kinda weird sometimes when you think about it.” she shrugs. “Glad it was you and not some killer... wouldn’t have even woken up to defend myself.” she jokes, only half convinced that she would wake up to unfamiliar sounds in the apartment. Arleigha and Ben were pretty familiar at this point. 

“You’re too happy.” She mumbles with a shake of her head as she flicks the switch on the machine. “Working a lot.” she shrugs. “Been here most of the time when not there.” 

“I take no responsibility if you end up falling out of bed because I move around too much,” Arl grins back. “Always. He gets enough sugar in his coffee,” she smiles. “Yeah, I sleep in Ben’s room a lot, but I’m trying not to wake him up all the time,” Arl nods. “Thank you.”

“Noted, If I fall off the bed it is in no way your fault.” She laughs “Yeah guess I knew that, run into him at the cafe more often than not. Pretty sure I see him more there than I do here.” She smiles. “Don’t mention it. I sleep like the dead so don’t wake up too easy - as I am sure you noticed” She says.
