“You’re the catalyst.” Cheshire lets her own words hang in the air for a few moments. She grazes a long painted nail over the glass before her, studying the frothy lavender liquid inside. She looks back at the beautiful disaster sitting across from her. Some chemical reaction love is. It’s certain to leave its scorchmarks on everyone it touches.

“I’d be inclined,” the woman says impassively before taking a long, thoughtful sip,” to be part of this terrible mess that you’re making.”

“I'm the what?”

        Katniss's brow furrows,  though she takes care not to reveal         more of her reaction than could be deemed neutral by prying         eyes.  It's not the first time someone's  described her in such          terms,  but she has yet  to grow used to it.  None of the titles          thrown her way seem to fit quite right.

                                  Victor.  Mockingjay.  Catalyst.

        Words to describe the ‘what,’ constantly obscuring the ‘who’          to the point where Katniss isn't sure which is which anymore. 

       “I didn't make the mess.” Her jaw sets, and she wonders who          it is she's really  trying to convince.    “It was like  this when I          found it.”  All dry sarcasm aside,  it's not wholly untrue,  is it?          The Capitol made a mess of Panem long ago. All Katniss did          was inadvertently set the ruins aflame. “But why would you           want to be a part of something like this, anyway?”
