"Oh, how to draw the line between wrath and mercy?"
She felt how sharp the claws dragging along her jaw were, spelling out the threat of immediate death at a flick of her wrist. She also felt how soft and warm her fingers were as they trailed across, and that was something she had to fight within herself to avoid leaning into. It had been a long time since she was physically touched in any capacity. One could get addicted.
She continued to scowl up at the woman above her. The hard ground beneath her made her knees scream in discomfort and her wrists were already starting to bruise. Had she not been ambushed and taken by suprise she would be in a completely different situation.
The woman continued in a low growl, "You say you had no idea this is our territory, but I find that hard to believe, princess." She leaned down to speak into her ear, "Everyone knows this territory is off limits."
Adora felt a shiver travel through her body. Between the whisper at her ear and the hand that cupped her opposite cheek she was surrounded and vulnerable. She expected to feel trapped. Instead it felt... familiar.
"I'm telling the truth. I came here from a planet called-"
The woman interrupted her, "Yeah, yeah, you're from space and you didn't know better, blah blah blah." She crouched down in front of Adora, blue and yellow eyes focused on hers.
"I've heard that excuse a few times before. Now. Tell me..."
She waved her hand at Adora in a wordless prompt.
She smirked, her sharp teeth catching the moonlight streaming in the spaces between the tree canopy.
"Well. Hey, Adora." She purred out her name, like it was made of smoke and cream.
"Us Magicats are prone to anger when provoked, and I'd be well within my right to handle you right here, right now." The tone of her voice was hard and angry, and Adora knew the threat was real. She leaned forward a bit to smooth a misplaced strand of Adora's hair behind her ear. Adora almost lost herself in a staggering sense of déjà vu.
The woman's gentle motions were at odds with her tone just prior, but her face softened and Adora could see her tail gently swaying behind her. "Give me a reason to choose mercy, princess," she quieted pleaded.
Mouth suddenly dry, Adora had to wet her lips before she could reply.
"Do I- Do we- Have we met?"
