Marcus enjoyed his time in the shadows. Watching the girl. Reveling in her discomfort. Normally he wouldn't let it go on for so long before making himself known. But this...this was personal. And he intended on making it hurt.
Every time she looked away. He did something. Little things. Enough to make her question her sanity. He could tell by the way she held herself now.
Finally tiring of the game, he flopped down into an armchair accross from the bed and waited. When she finally stirred he let out a satisfied little laugh. "Come on now, poppet. How long are you going to pretend you don't know I'm here?"
The laugh washed over Cami with a wave of cold that nearly made her breath catch. A wave that she imagined she'd only feel again once thereafter. Death. She moved to sit up slowly, all the same, measuring and guarding her expression as she looked up at Marcus. It was easy enough to piece together at least the basic elements of things. He couldn't infiltrate Magnus' home so that meant they were in the heart of her subconscious, a tainted sort of reality. And she'd opened herself to that very prospect of his entry... with Magnus on her heels to lock the necromancer away, and the reality being that he was now inside of Cami's mind instead of Chance's. At least she had some good sense not to be outwardly terrified. He wanted that, after all.
So she was purposeful in her movements to rest her arms atop her knees, tilting her head to take Marcus in properly then. "Making house calls now? You really would have made a good solicitor in another life."
Caught in a Cage
Cami hadn't really fought Vexx's insistence that she go to her room to rest. She had, however, fought off the actual sleep for quite some time, simply drifting in and out of that hazy space between sleeping and waking. At some point she must have slipped over the edge of her own exhaustion as she now felt herself come to again. She opened her eyes a little bit, looking around her room, at the clear dark outside of the window indicating that it was still night. She turned over, pulling her sheets around herself as she slipped her eyes shut again.
Except now she couldn't quite seem to bring herself to slip off again. She shifted her position every so often, each to no avail. Something was just keeping her from sleep. Sitting up on her elbows then, Cami's gaze drifted to her door, debating getting up and walking around the loft, or maybe even going up to curl up on the couch until she drifted off there. But her eyes instead drifted to her vanity just beside the door, where her candles and books seemed to have been swapped to either side from where they typically were. She scoffed, getting up out of the bed and moving them back to their original places, mumbling to herself about how maybe she shouldn't allow Xypher open access to her room if he was going to move her stuff around. But that was silly, really. It was just little things, and it didn't really matter. She was just wound up. Too wound up to sleep, evidently. Still, she tucked herself back into her bed, willing herself to be still.
It must have been another ten minutes at least before she allowed herself to open her eyes, glancing at the window again. Only this time her curtains were pulled part of the way open. Or were they like that before? She couldn't really recall. Rather than fuss with them, she just flipped the direction she was facing in the bed to the opposite wall. But it didn't work. Minutes came and went, and she still couldn't drift off. She tossed the covers off of herself. Maybe she was too overheated? She did feel a little bit warm. Except that didn't do the trick either, and she found herself all too awake. She resigned to staring up at her canopy for the time being.
A small movement caught her focus out of the corner of her eye, and she flinched, her head whipping around to face the spot only to find nothing. She flopped back down after another moment, but now couldn't shake a very different feeling--that she was being watched. "Oh, get over yourself, Cami. You're being ridiculous," she said softly to herself, turning back on her side to face her window.

Marcus chuckled darkly as the mist closed over them. “Clever girl….locking yourself in the cage with a demon. For… what exactly? A child? One.. pathetic little child?”
He stepped away from throne, it growing even taller behind him. The magic licking along the surface. As if searching for any points of weakness.
“He’s mine you know. My blood. My prize. You can’t keep him.” He sighed a little, almost disappointed. He continued towards her. “Still though…brave. Foolish. But brave. How long do you really expect your little bubble to last?”
He walked a circle around her. A mist of his own following in his wake. “And I have to wonder… for what purpose? You can’t save him. You can’t even save yourself.” He sent a wave of dark murky magic at her. It licked along her skin. Through he hair. “And now… I’ll have two.”
Cami shrugged her shoulders. "I wouldn't know what to make of him yet. But if you're so convinced that he's pathetic, I'd be inclined to remind you that fruit doesn't tend to fall far from the tree."
She held her ground even as Marcus approached. Scare tactics didn't really affect her most of the time. Physical threats and more concrete danger, sure. But this was just like what she'd said about Xypher facing off with the minions earlier: no more than a pissing match. And that was just tiresome.
Her chin tilted up the slightest bit as she returned Marcus' cold gaze. By now the mist she'd conjured had closed in to about a five foot diameter around them. "Long enough to leave an impression, at least, but I think we're already there," she replied flippantly.
Marcus' mist simultaneously washed over her like the cold of death and the flames of hell in tandem, but Cami refused to allow Marcus the satisfaction of a reaction. Instead she turned to face him again, leaning in so she was merely inches apart from him as she flashed him a winning smile. "Go fuck yourself." Her expression dropped into more of a glare then as her eyes glowed again and she ripped herself out of Chance's mind for now.
Vexx walked along side Cami, on the opposite side of the mist. He gently touched it with the pads of his fingers. He listened to her speech with a smug smile. The glimmer of his veil hiding him from everyone but Cami.
Chance continued to try to fight it. But his father continued to speak through him. “Bane…” he snapped. “You must be joking. Your little show and dance… pathetic really. The whole lot of you.”
He lost the control of his patience. Standing so quickly Chance fell backwards.
But Chance fell directly into Vexx’s waiting arms as the warlock appeared out of nowhere. “Upsies.. “ he sang giving him a little push through the thickening wall.
Marcus whirled around and Vexx beamed back at him. “Hi there…” he said with a wink and a little finger wave. The veil enveloped him back into the shadows before the necromancer could respond.
He reappeared to retrieve Chance up off the floor. “There we arrrreeee…” He said, settling for simply scooping him up rather than tugging him along with him. “Cami, doll.” He called to her. “Do hurry up… can’t leave Xypher to play the diplomat. He’s terrible at it.”
Cami laughed a bit, in that dry and tired sort of way she always managed whenever a guy couldn't quite seem to take the hint on a night out. And this did feel achingly similar to that, oddly enough. She didn't even move an inch or speak as Marcus darted forward, jostling Chance into Vexx's hold. She did allow herself to watch the moment unfold with a growing satisfaction. "Pathetic, huh? Seems to me like you took the bait just fine," she mused, closing the mist along the gap where Vexx and Chance had exited.
Her smile only deepened as Vexx called out to her. "Boys, boys, boys..." She flitted her fingers up then, making the walls of her magic extend upwards until it closed over her and Marcus, encompassing them into a dome now that was slowly shrinking in on them. "What was it you were saying before? I seem to recall something about me being a bitch and not knowing what I was getting myself into?"

Chance didn’t know precisely when the mindscape changed. He was still in the throne room. His father’s angry eyes burning into him. So hot he couldn’t breathe.
But then something changed. A soft glimmer from the corner of his eye. The woman that grabbed his hands in the basement. And his chest seized, catching him off guard.
“Chance…” Marcus beckoned as he eyed the woman with a coldness Chance had never seen before. He held out his hand towards come, curling a finger.
Chance didn’t want to go to him. He never did. On the physical plane or others. But as was customary, he didn’t actually have a choice and stumbled to his father’s side. He caught himself on the side of the throne.
Marcus still hadn’t even looked at him. But he crashed down to the floor beside him anyway. “Chance…” he sad again, his voice tight with anger. “Tell the bitch what happens to those who choose to poke the hornets nest. I don’t think she quite understands what she is about to do.”
Chance let out a choked sob, clutching at his throat uselessly as the words tumbled from his lips. “Death. Pain. Agony. Despair.”
Cami's expression didn't change from her carefully crafted impertinence, nor did she allow her gaze to drift to Chance for the time being. Her focus was twofold, the first priority being her holding Marcus' eyeline and the second being the progression of the wall of mist from behind her.
She did, however, tut her tongue disapprovingly as Marcus forced Chance to speak. "And now you can't even speak for yourself? That's a shame," she replied with a temporary pout of her lower lip.
She stepped a bit further into the throne room, because even if he found himself to be the predator in this equation, she wasn't making herself into any man's prey. Her magic followed slowly alongside, building the beginnings of a barrier between Chance's consciousness and Marcus. It wouldn't take hold just yet, of course. Not until she could properly get him away, but for that she knew she's need to have Vexx bring Chance through the barrier just before it closed. That, and she'd need to keep Marcus' focus for that all to happen under his nose. And Cami was an expert at pushing buttons, as it happened.
"Oh, I know several things. One, you are entirely too comfortable in your vague presumption of control here. Two, you don't know what hornet's nest you've decided to kick into our back garden. Three, your little henchmen came up woefully short in managing little more than pissing myself and my family off. Four, you've met Magnus by now, judging by the fact that you have enough focus and energy to exert into this. Five, since Magnus isn't here to collect Chance, you've come to some sort of agreement. Six, whatever agreement that may be doesn't prevent my being here to become the biggest thorn in your side if that's what it should take for me to get you to shut. The fuck. Up." Cami paused her slow pursuit then, with her mist occupying roughly three quarters of the space. A slight edge of a smirk tugging at her lips and she raised a brow at Marcus. "Care to add anything helpful? From your own lips this time, of course."
A Meeting of the Minds
Every person's mind looked different really, but it was more than clear that where Cami was now nestled in Chance's mind was not of his own creation. She was walking down a darkened corridor for a prolonged moment, until she finally made it into a throne room of sorts. With the man of the hour lying in wait.
She took her time moving closer, looking around the imagined room with distaste. "I would make introductions, but I'm not really all that bothered to get to know you. I mean, any man that's self-obsessed enough to force a blood bond on his own son and manifest that space as a throne room is way too far gone for idle pleasantries."
Cami came to a stop then, finally making eye contact with Marcus and allowing hers to glow that silvery white she often hid. A faint wind shifted from behind her as the backhalf of the vision faded away, with a wall of fog coming up behind her to block off focus outside of her. Chance would be released from his father's efforts, at least temporarily. She released a contented sigh for his benefit, allowing her eyes to drift back to their normal color now. "Much better... Oh, hope you don't mind if I redecorate."

Damon thoroughly enjoyed the show, batting some bubbles at her when she slowed down. “Opportunistic Voyeurs Anonymous.” He replied, distracted by the show of more skin.
At her tease he offered her a pouty pucker of his lips. “Me and these suds are picky tippers you know.” He purred as he moved forward to the opposite side of the tub where she stood. He considered her for a moment then raised a brow. “Funny… I always thought you were a frilly girl. Now these little winged hearts…” He growled playfully, catching her by the hips and jerking her against the tub. “Make me crazy.”
Cami hummed in her amusement, relishing a little victory in the way his gaze and expression betrayed his evident distraction with her teasing efforts. "That, or a confessional booth," she mused.
Her hands halted in their movements as Damon brought himself closer to her, contenting herself in tormenting him all the further for now. But the swift movement melted a bit of her composure into laughter. Cami brought her hands up to gently tug on his dampened hair, her eyes dancing with amusement as she did. "Frilly? Never. But if you like these, I could think of a few more that would have had you swooning like a debutante," she teased, leaning down then to where her lips were just barely ghosting across his as she whispered. "I would ask you to promise not to rip them... but I don't really care."
"Business is highly subjective in the matters of passionate escapades. So spill."
"So you can live vicariously through my recounting all of the sordid details? No, no," Cami began, leaning further towards Magnus with a trademark sort of playfulness in her expression. "You deserve to be the one having passionate escapades of your own--and some romance wouldn't go amiss either, for what it's worth."
"Certainly not." He replied, leaning in a little closer. "Have you looked at me? I'm quite the catch. In fact...you would be lucky to have kept my attention this long."
"Well, in that case I'll have to be certain I make the most out of the time I do have with your precious attention."

“Hard to get and busy are two very different things, my darling.”
“Only when I’m looking to impress my host. Although you seem to have left out the part about the dress code… or lack thereof,” she pointed out, giving him a visible up-down and wink even despite the obscuring bubbles.
"Did I?" He mused, giving her his best smolder over the rim of his glass. "Must've...." He dropped the glass into the bubbles. "Slipped my mind...."
Cami couldn’t help but smirk a bit at his reply. She moved to set the new bottle just beside Damon so that her hands were free and then set about removing her clothes in a teasingly slow fashion. “Well, there’s something to be said for getting to watch instead.” She paused, just in her underwear now as she shot him a playful look. “Even more fun to help… unless you’re too busy with your suds.”
“And you’ve still yet to give me anything specific to go off of for me to accurately answer if I’ve seen them… do you see my confusion?”
Laszlo leaned in a little closer, the flash of a fang in his slowly revealed smile. "Oh? Are you not able to see him? Not a very good telepath are you? I'll have to tell my master not to bother with you. He's only interested in useful warlocks."
“Who said I was even trying?” Cali retorted, not moving even an inch. His scare tactics were annoying at best. She gave the vampire an evident up down glance. “And your master’s opinion is the least of my concern. Because clearly he doesn’t know the definition of usefulness if you’re so helpless on your own that you need to seek me out.”
“Of course, gorgeous. I thought you’d never ask.”
"Ah...so I was correct. You have been eyeing the buffet tonight. Lucky me to have caught the attention f the temptress." He paused to give her a once over himself. "Lucky me..." He repeated a little softer.
“Can you blame me?” She all but purred, mirroring his expression.

"With you and alcohol involved?"
“Aw since when have you been one to judge, Branson?” She lifted up her hands in a playful sort of triumph. “I’m your favourite life of the party.”
