burning , burning

   her  room  has  become  a  common  meeting  place.   when  the  sun  sets  and  they  both  should  be  turning  in  for  the  night.   but  it  was  clear  that  wasn’t  the  goal  for  either.   no , they sought  after  the  comfort  that  only  the  other  could  provide⸺  or  so  she  likes  to  think.

awareness  isn’t  lost  on  her.   she  knows , painfully  so , what’s  happening.   the  true  affection  he  fails  to  provide  is  returned  in  folds  by  her  and  it’s  obvious.   unrelenting  in  a  manner  and  down  to  the  very  way  her  hand  traces  the  side  of  his  face , the  slope  of  his  jaw.   it’s  not  like  she  intended  for  matters  to  fall  like  this  but  her  heart  has  always  been  a  bleeding  thing  and  isn’t  he  the  greatest  cause  of  them  all?

don’t  you  know?   your  sweetened  words  fill  my  heart  with  honey.

‘    do  i?    ’   feigned  innocence  has  always  looked  good  on  her.   just  like  the  pout  that  manifests  on  him  when  the  owed  kiss  doesn’t  quite  live  up  to  the  promise.   feather - light  and  utterly  chaste.   pressed  quickly  to  the  side  of  his  lips.   she  pulls  back , a  little  too  pleased  with  herself.   a  giggle  escapes  as  she  goes  to  take  in  his  full  expression.   oh  but  how  troublesome!   even  his  disappointment  is  captivating  in  its  own  way.   the  demure  act  that  she  constructed  so  wonderfully  all  but  crumbles …

and  so:  a  proper  kiss.   one  to  surely  satisfy  and  leave  them  both  a  bit  breathless.   her  cheeks  tinge  themselves  rosy  as  her  lips  linger  merely  a  hairsbreadth  away.   the  thought  to  take  a  third  kiss  comes  and  go.  he  hasn’t  earned  it.

‘    you  know … the  next  kiss  will  require  a  please  or  i  might  not  be  so  inclined  to  play  along  with  you.    ’   

❝   AURELIA ?   WHAT IN THE WORLD—-    aurelia ?   ❞   to see the body of her fellow student on the ground,   motionless,   sends edelgard’s mind to the clutches of an uncharacteristic panic.     she quickly pushes herself to her knees,    ignoring the sharp pain that comes after the sudden impact,   &   reaches over to shake lia’s shoulders.   ❝   are you alright ?   ❞

      ❛    SHE  FELL  INTO  THE  POND .    ❜  in  his  arms  he  holds  a  small  dappled  puppy  almost  entirely  covered  in  an  assortment  of  towels .  only  her  head  pokes  out ,  slightly  shivering  as  she  casts  a  wide  eyed  look  to  lia .  ashe  takes  a  step  forward ,  a  concerned  expression  on  his  face .  ❛    you  mind  helping  me  clean  her  up ?    ❜
