ArtSlam

It’s that time of year again! ArtSlam starts June 1st and ends August 31st So now’s the time to sign up and get ready!

What is ArtSlam about? Artslam is an event that challenges artists of every skill level to pick a concept and develop it for one, two or three months. Generally speaking, if you have a character, setting or story that you would like to develop, this community encourages you to think about it every day and get some sketches down that you can later use to develop your concept more thoroughly. Think of it as an artistic NaNoWriMo, with the goal being one sketch a day.

How do I participate? Artslam started as as Livejournal community, the original sign ups and posts can be found there. There is also a Dreamwidth community mirror if you have an account with Dreamwidth:

Alternatively, there is an ArtSlam Discord. Sign up on the server and you get your own personal channel to share your art with everyone else on the server. https://discord.gg/RJe8Rt3

It is also possible to post to tumblr with the tag #artslam but it’s very hard to organize something on tumblr.

Hi guys, the June sign ups for this year’s artslam over at livejournal is finally here!

As always you pick your own theme and mode:

HARD (all three months)

MEDIUM (two months, whether it’s June and July, June and August, or July and August)

EASY (one month, either June or July or August)

if you have a change of heart in the middle, you can always change it at the June or July sign ups.

So far it doesn’t look like there’ll be a tumblr version of artslam, but I don’t know what the other mods thinks. I’ll just say the livejournal version is a whole lot more fun what with a proper commenting system in place. So please come on over, we’re a friendly bunch.
