“  aww... why ?  i promise i’ll keep you safe !  ”  she doesn’t see what’s so dangerous about bears, nor does she see why albedo would change xyr mind so quickly  (  her only guess is that it is because xe does not trust her to keep xem safe ...  )  —  but this is the same child who calls every abyss mage she sees  ‘  mr fluffball  ’  ...  her steadfast belief in the concept of  ‘  innocent until proven guilty  ’  has gotten her into danger more than once.  “  is it ‘cause draff’ll be mad if we bother them ?  ”  klee’s childish mind assumes that the springvale hunters dislike her bombing not for the boars specifically but for all wildlife in the vicinity  —  which, she assumes, includes bears.

“  oh, that sounds fun !  can i come ?  ”  klee has never had much impulse control, why would she start now ?  “  i’ll keep you safe from the momma bear !  ”  is she aware that bears are not immune to bombs ?  almost certainly not. maybe a complete disregard for physics and logic runs in the family, just like explosive terraforming.

“  sucrose.  ”  albedo speaks firmly but calmly, hoping it will prevent her from protesting again.  “  sometimes, experiments just don’t work. sometimes, you haven’t found the missing piece yet, and so trying again will keep yielding the same results.  ”  he spent weeks on dragonspine, trying to understand that foreign seed and make it bloom  —  and though his study of the traveler did let it bloom, it lasted only a mere moment, and he gained little from that experiment.  “  the nature of our research is such that many, many experiments will fail, or end with useless or incomplete results. all you can do is try, and document your findings thoroughly. and if it consistently results in a dead end, try pursuing another experiment  —  it may yield knowledge relevant to your unsolvable problem.  ”

“  oh yeah ?  why’s that, faery boy ?  ”  she perches on the edge of a nearby rooftop, feet dangling over the edge. tiny butterflies made of light flutter around her shoulders, the aftermath of a reappearing act she’s become quite adept at.

“  c’mon,  comrade  ,  i thought you weren’t scared ?  ”

- seelies r apprehensive of xem bc of xyr mother’s side, but somewhat ok w/ xem bc of xyr human side. butterflies, being only aspiring seelies, have no such intuition regarding hu tao and so adore xem
