Inside Friends of Friends, a neighborhood cocktail bar in West Town. đŚÂ I had the Crisp & Light No. 4. đ¸Â (Also pictured: A glimpse of the restroom with an old-timey pull-chain toilet.) // (c) Jenny Lam 2026
Remember the Scholastic Book Fair?? Yesterday was the first day of the Boozy Book Fair in Chicago! Itâs like childhood in the 90s again, except with themed cocktails, and Iâm not a cheap kid who rarely wanted to spend any $ anymore. đ So of course at the end of the night I bought a collection of OG Goosebumps books. đ
(As many of you already know: I read every single book in the original series as a child, but in the library, so I didnât actually own these (except for a nostalgic gift from friends in adulthood, and a signed copy which Iâll get into later). Every Saturday afternoon, starting when I was 6, my dad would bring me to our local library; there, heâd pick out 7 picture books, one for him to read to me each night, while Iâd make a beeline to where the chapter books were and grab the latest 2 or so Goosebumps acquisitions (it was so satisfying when Iâd open them up and see that no one else had checked them out before). Iâd spend a couple hours there and read them on the spot; my favorite place to do so was on a rocking chair underneath a Mother Goose mobile in the middle of a sunny, seemingly private corner of the childrenâs section. When I was done Iâd go find my dad in the history section (naturally). And almost two years ago I met R. L. Stine (hence the aforementioned signed book) and made sure to let him know heâs my hero, and he was so kind đĽšđ)

Meanwhile on Twitter, Jake Tapper is rewriting history.
I'm being 100% serious when I say that Millennials need to counteract these false narratives in published writing.

I've just been announced as a Finalist for the Urban Photo Awards 2026 in Trieste, Italy! Reunited with my former-mentor-turned-dear-friend Robin Rios! đ We hadn't seen each other since the Before Times! We hung out in Chinatown starting with dim sum at Cai (which my parents and I also hadn't been to since March 1, 2020! which is nuts since we used to go every week (and of course they immediately recognized/remembered us even though it's been over 6 years đ  and later when we went into Saint Anna Bakery & Cafe, which I used to go to all the time when I was a kid before/after attending Chinese school, the same exact thing happened đ)). Anyway, my heart is full đĽ°Â (as is my stomach). // (c) Jenny Lam 2026
I made these! Just a few of my creations from the Spring session of my Wheelthrowing class. This was my second time taking the Advanced Beginning level after a year in Beginning. đ Pictured here are:
1 - My first time trying Tea Dust!
2 - Another glaze experiment :)
3 - First time trying sgraffito
4 - My second porcelain jar! (All of these are porcelain btw. ^^)
5 - My 2nd ever teapot! I wasn't too keen on how the glaze turned out so here it is as bisqueware, along with a bonus photo in its leather hard greenware stage
6 - My 1st successful plate (I say successful because the first time I made one during the Winter session I accidentally cut through it đ)!

đ¤ Park that car, drop that phone, sleep on the floor, dream about me. đ¤ All the Feelings Tour: Metric + Broken Social Scene + Stars at Aragon Ballroom last night in Chicago! I, too, was surprised I made barricade for this concert of Canadian indie rock royalty (and yes the stage at the Aragon is notoriously ludicrously high). Hereâs BSSâ âAnthems for a Seventeen YearâOld Girl,â joined by Emily Haines from Metric and Amy Millan from Stars. I canât believe Iâve loved this song and this band for over 20 years. 𩷠I also love how theyâre all childhood friends; they all showed up for each othersâ sets and the whole show was like a party. // (c) Jenny Lam 2026

Happy National Ice Cream Day! đŚÂ Throwback to March when I was on my annual Hong Kong trip and got a snack at Heartwarming ćĺżčä˝, a shop in Prince Edward that's famous for all things black sesame, including black sesame ice cream! đ¤ With black sesame seeds being ground non-stop by two stone mills at the door, Heartwarming is Michelin recommended street food. // (c) Jenny Lam 2026
ChicaGOAT. đ Today was my parents' anniversary of when they met! To celebrate, we went to Girl & the Goat for our first time. And... it lived up to its reputation; SO good omg, especially the dishes I wouldn't normally think to order. đđłÂ We shared five savory plates and four desserts (one of them was on the house). And then when we left, there was the most spectacular sunset. đ§ĄÂ // (c) Jenny Lam 2026

It was so foggy tonight, this is what my local fireworks looked like lmao. (I didnât use night mode or edit this photo whatsoever; this is really what it looked like.) Well, it sounded like a good show?

Stay cool, Chicago! âď¸Â Throwback to last week: Inside The Understudy Coffee and Books, a queer-owned theatre-themed hybrid bookstore and coffee shop in Andersonville. đâ Stopped by before my ceramics class, and, like Lillstreet Art Center, they also have fresh pastries from Defloured gluten-free bakery. đĽÂ Such a pretty cafĂŠ!
