i posted two personal ulam studies a few days ago and decided to keep going.

i've been seeing people or tweets saying filipino food is all oil and barely any vegetables, and honestly, that feels like such a limited view of our cuisine. most of the filipino food that reaches western media is "fiesta food" or "party food" but everyday filipino cooking is a different story.

we have dishes like pinakbet, laing, lagat, and countless regional recipes where vegetables and seafood are staples. every region in the philippines has its own culinary traditions, and they're far more diverse than the usual lumpia, jollibee, and lechon stereotype.

so here's my excuse to draw more filipino food and hopefully shine a light on the dishes that deserve more love 🇵🇭🍚

( PS: another reason i picked lagat for this ulam study is because my partner's mom makes it all the time for me, and i've grown ridiculously attached to it!!! i'd eat this dish straight from the bowl without rice and feel absolutely no shame about it 🤤🤤🤤 )
