whenever people slutshame abigail and the response is "dutch/bill/javier was lying" i kind of cringe. bc while that's probably true and i recognize they were saying things to get under john's skin, like...why would it ultimately matter either way. lets say they're not lying and they did all have her, now what? i prefer the stance of "they all had her." "and??" what of it? who cares? john sure doesnt, why do you? i think the immediate jump to deny it doesn't help as much as we think when it comes to slutshaming. abigail doesn't need to be a sexual puritan to deserve respect.

on top of that, she was literally a sex worker. she has been sleeping with men for money for a long time. john knew this when they met, he knew this when he left, he knew this when he stayed with them, he knew this when they returned to him, he knew this when he proposed; people are just obsessed with this idea of women being pure and innocent to a point where they're more regressive than people who are supposed to have grown up in the 1800's.

being a fan of a polarizing female character is hard because whenever you say “yeah i really like her–” someone cuts you off with “i have violent fantasies about killing her”
