We have been waiting for a rainy day, but settled for a cloudy evening and a camp shower to get the right moods. Not exactly what we planned, but results came out well.

I decided to head up to Mount Tam tonight to capture some of the beautiful puffy storm clouds. When I got there, it started pouring rain. It was calming and really pleasant. Not much of a view for most of the sunset, but as I was walking back to the car, I looked back as the clouds parted and saw this scene. What a wonderful evening.

I’ve really been enjoying taking photos just past sunset around the neighborhood. I really admire all of these homes near by and wish I could learn more about their stories. For now, just images of them from the sidewalk.

I had a wonderful time shooting with Kendra at the amazing Marin County Civic Center with one lens and one camera. I’ve never used a rangefinder camera nor a 50mm on a big shoot before, so it was a good challenge and a lot of fun. I found that I was getting better focused shots than relying on my usual setup’s autofocus.

A bit of a break in the rain made for some moody photos today.

Spring is right around the corner. Shots taken around my neighborhood of all the blooming flowers during a rainy evening. I’m impressed at how well the Leica M11 did in such low light.

The current lens I have is the Summilux 50mm Black Chrome (11688). Hope to add a 35mm to the mix soon too.

The road down to Alpine Lake from the top of Mount Tamalpais, via the Bolinas-Fairfax Road was closed to car traffic. Wendy and I hiked down to a switchback and found a beautiful scene to dance in.

The windy roads of the Bolinas-Fairfax ridge are beautiful, especially when this sea of fog rolls right over the top.

I spent a few days exploring on my own, and was absolutely amazed by the Taroko National Park. I’ve been to national parks within the United States, epic landscapes in Iceland and many parts of Europe, but this was totally different. I can’t put a finger on it, but it was an experience I will never forget.

Whenever I’m asked to recommend good places for sunrise in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sibley always tops my list. It’s not in San Francisco, but it’s just across the bay. Looking east, you see rolling hills, morning mist, and Mount Diablo on the horizon giving a great sense of depth and scale.
