sanguinecus:
Arthur.
The dark smudgy liner, the dark red lips, and curve hugging black dress was all entirely intentional, tonight wasn’t just about having a good time it was about getting lost and drowning out the world by whatever means came by the fastest. Blythe had always found comfort in the crowds that could be found in night clubs and bars where the drinks flowed freely though these days it was as much about satiating her hunger, as it was about disappearing among strangers, with whatever concoctions further helped her lose herself further.
The alertness and sharpened presence of mind that came with being a vampire was far worst than the bloodlust for Blythe most days. Drinking away her rich girl sorrows was now a lot harder than it used to be. Siting at the bar she was down five drinks and still felt only slightly buzzed. Being mostly dead, undead or whatever was the worst. She’d been about to pin down the bartender for number six when the voice caught her attention. She turned to the stranger, the corner of lips upturning. “Perhaps, just one wouldn’t kill me.” She answered, the irony of her words not lost on her.
Arthur nodded once, slowly standing up while he reached into his jacket pocket for a lighter and his packet of cigarettes. He had a sickening feeling in his stomach, a reminder of his wife and he could not pinpoint what it was. Was it the black dress? Her red lips? Perhaps the sound of her voice that churned his stomach and made thoughts of his ex-wife Martha flood his brain.
He opened up his arm in gesture, “After you.” Appearances can be deceiving, and after all, this was not his wife. His wife was dead. He made sure of that. The couple of whiskeys that he drank seemed to burn in his throat. He stepped outside, the cold crisp air catching on his face. Arthur glanced down at the packet in his hand and pulled out two cigarettes, handing one to the woman while placing the other between his lips. He lifted the lighter, flicked it once, and ignited his cigarette before passing it to the other.
“What brings you to this place tonight?”
