Arthur Matthews

Brendan looked over at him before nodding his head. “I’m sure that can be arranged. I don’t trust these Hale’s. Granted they have nothing now but still what their son did to her…Arthur it was bad. No one actually seen her afterwards, but I was there for them and what she endured because of that bastard is something that no one should go through. She’s strong, a survivor but still.” And maybe that was why Brendan had used Matthews International to take everything that the Hale’s had. Or maybe that was the way he showed that he actually cared. “It could have easily been Molly..”

Arthur felt a small pang in his chest as he thought about Molly being hurt. He cleared his throat and nodded. “I’ll help her,  and how often do I lose?” He cracked a small smile trying to break the ice in a way. “--just do me a favor and don’t suggest that it could have been Molly. My heart can’t even handle that image...” Especially after Alex. He had been so terrible to him... He swallowed hard. 

“Yeah… it really is.” Josie nodded. “So, uh… how has Linda been doing?”

“She’s...” Arthur smiled a bit. Even with their complicated relationship, he did love his wife. Her actions just sometimes drove him to need something else. He needed affection that she just sometimes didn’t give him between all the work she invented for herself. “She’s okay, really. Eccentric as usual.” 

“Emma Williamson, or well Emma Everett-Williamson I need you to be her lawyer. You are the best that I know and she’s Josie’s daughter and I feel once she talks to Victoria Hale, she is going to need a lawyer.” He glanced down for a moment before back up at him. “Can you help? You know that I’ll pay whatever the fees are.”

Arthur took a deep breath, looking down at the calendar on his desk. His task list was extensive, but he could move things around. Cancel some of the things that he really hated. There was certainly a lot of them. He cleared his throat and gave a small nod. “I can see what I can do. Can she come in and see me? Josie and you may come if you would like, but I need to talk to her. I need to know she wants my help.”

Josie nodded, smiling softly. “Yeah…” She really was glad they were here, all things considered. “She’s… doing okay, I think. Better, anyway. Yeah.”

Arthur smiled gently and nodded. “-better...” He repeated the word, reaching up to scratch his cheek. “--better is a start anyway.” 

She smiled as she sat down, shaking her head a little. “Well, I can’t say I blame you, honestly. We all have those days.”

“Thanks.” Eric looked over at Linda for a moment. “We will be there even if it’s for a little bit. We have Imogen’s family’s Christmas as well.” He pointed out before nodding his head to follow his father. Moving into the office, he closed the door behind him. “Dad, I need a favor and I know that mum isn’t going to like it at all.” He sighed a little bit. “I need you to help me with Imogen, get her out of this mess. She didn’t do this. So just help me please.” He looked away for a moment before back to Arthur. “She’s also pregnant again.” // @mollysmatthews​

Molly didn’t know what to say when her mother said she could have taken Brooklyn… so she pretended she hadn’t heard, adjusting Brooklyn in her arms and then going to sit down with her once her dad and Eric moved off. “So, uh… mum.” She needed to stop her barging on in there, right? “Anything new?” @linda–matthews​

“Don’t forget about the annual Christmas party. The both of you.” She gestured between Eric and Molly. Noticing her son and husband leaving towards his office. Her eyes went back to Molly for a moment. “Now really. Just the usual.” She shrugged a little bit, turning to watch Molly with Brooklyn. “Celia, is there something going on that I need to worry about?” She questioned, raising a brow slightly. / @arthur–matthews​

“Oh boy...” Arthur spoke under his breath as Eric began to say that he knew Linda wouldn’t like it. He walked over to his desk, glancing down. He ran his fingers through some papers that just sat there, a bit of a fidgeting manner. “You are going to make living in my own house unbearable if she finds out...” he said in a soft voice. If he took a check from one of the businesses, replaced it with their own funds, maybe just maybe Linda wouldn’t see it in the checkbook. “I will help you... but I might need to sleep on your couch if your mother finds out.”  [ @eric---matthews​ ]

“And here I was hoping for a warmer welcome.” She chuckled, moving to pull out the empty chair opposite him and just inviting herself to sit down at her cousin’s table. “Not in the mood today, huh?”

“You do? How come?”

He smiled a bit and tilted his head to the side. “Have you met people? They are not always the most pleasant.” 

He couldn’t help but laugh at that, shaking his head a little. “Don’t I know it.”

“Other than things at the shop, no… but I have been spending a lot of time with my new little grandchildren and ugh, I’ve missed babies.” She couldn’t help but gush with a little laugh.

Arthur laughed a bit and nodded. “Babies are quite precious...” He could agree with that. He didn’t get to spend nearly enough time with his granddaughter. He made a mental note that perhaps he should swing by Eric and Imogen’s. If Linda wasn’t around, he might not be completely barred from Brooklyn. “How is Emma?” 

“Oh, I see… sounds like you’re a very busy man.” Anna said, feeling a bit out of her depth because she didn’t get any of that law or business stuff at all. She supposed she was just too… simple.

Dani nodded lightly in agreement before she glanced back to the dog and then up to him again. “Her name’s Bella.” She chuckled. “I only got her quite recently.”

“She is very well behaved.” He smiled gently, “I love dogs more than people most of the time.” 

Josie nodded lightly, working up the slightest smile. “Yeah…. I suppose you’re right.”

Arthur smiled softly and shrugged his shoulders. “Are you doing anything interesting lately?”

“I hope so, Molly. I really do.” It was game, and Eric knew this because the timeline didn’t match up and Imogen wouldn’t kill Evan. He believed this. Despite the past between Evan and Brooke, killing him was just something that she wouldn’t do. Nodding his head before they moved inside, he held Brooklyn close to him, kissing her temple lightly. “Mother.” He looked at Arthur for a moment. “Just a visit. And dad, I do need to speak to you..alone if you have a minute.” He glanced over at Molly for a moment. “Molly, can you take her?” He started to hand her over to his sister.

“Yeah, I’ve got her…” She murmured, taking Brooklyn and holding onto her. She glanced at her mother, knowing Imogen wouldn’t want her to get her hands on her so she wasn’t going to put the little girl down. Linda could fawn over them all she liked but Molly wasn’t going to be on the receiving end of a Ford tongue-lashing for letting her take the baby. “No family dinner scheduled for a while, dad.” Molly chuckled, looking over at him with a smile before she turned back to Linda and shrugged. “Just thought we’d… stop by.”

“I’m sorry, my love. I was unsure if you were in your office or not.” Linda turned to Eric and Molly. Noticing Eric hand Brooklyn over to Molly. “I could have taken her.” But she also knew how Imogen felt but she didn’t give a damn. That girl being locked up was for the best. “We have one scheduled for what? The last week of the month? And then we have our annual party which you are both going to attend. This is not up for debate.” She looked between Eric and Molly. “Just a visit?” She raised a brow slightly.

“I just came from there...” Arthur smiled softly, walking up to stand beside Linda. He folded the newspaper, rolling it up and tucking it into his back pocket. “Yes, the last week of the month but currently I am not even sure what day it is...” He chuckled a bit, glancing at Linda. His attention then went to Eric and he gave a small nod. He glanced toward Linda for a moment, having this feeling that whatever it was about she would not like. He looked back toward Eric and beckoned, taking a step back and heading back toward the door he had entered through. “

“Yeah, well you’re not wrong there…”

Josie shrugged. “I’ve been fine.” She said, going quiet for a moment. She had been stressed and anxious but she supposed things were getting better. “You? Other than all the… work.” She knew it had to be hard after Alexander.

Arthur smiled softly to himself and shook his head. “All I do is work and even when I don’t, I think about it. It is much easier that way.”
