Some updates since I posted this last month:

just because things are at their bleakest now, just because we are being dragged into a hellish apocalypse of an extinction event, just because the fangs of capital are gnashing more violently than ever, does not mean that this is the future we have to accept. we can halt climate change and mitigate the worst of the effects by ending borders and allowing those in areas that are becoming unlivable to move to cooler climates, remove the need for a currency based economy so that those who are displaced will not be forced to contend with survival while losing everything they have known. we can redirect resources away from profit incentives and towards comprehensive education programmes available for all ages. we can use the massive excess of homes built in the imperial core to provide housing to everyone who is currently homeless in the area, and stop taking resources from other countries, give reparations to the nations and people that have been harmed by imperialism, and focus efforts on providing resources and shelter to those who need in the global south. these are concrete, achievable goals that can be striven towards through our lifetimes.
