Violet Parr, everyone. The true hero of this movie.
I want an Incredibles 2 where Violet suddenly wakes up and realizes, âWhy did I think wearing pink sweaters and dating some popular kid was AN IMPROVEMENT?!â Then she goes back to being the quirky, smart girl she was at the start, only now sheâs more badass than before because she realizes there was NOTHING WRONG WITH WHO SHE WAS!!!
(Seriously, am I the only one who hates how they ended her story in pt. 1?)
You SEVERELY misunderstand Violetâs entire dang story arc, and her characterization at the beginning of the film.
Like, I think you need to rewatch the film. At the beginning of the film, she was scared, self conscious, etc. Those arenât âquirksâ those were her hiding her quirks because she was afraid.Â
Her story arc was about gaining confidence. The wearing of brighter colors was symbolic of that. If you look at concept art, she was meant to be huddled, scared, trying not to be seen, etc. Those dark clothes are meant to show her trying to âblend inâ and be less noticed.
Thatâs also why in the beginning, she lets her hair fall in front of her face: Sheâs trying TO HIDE. Think about it, she wants to be ânormalâ instead of embracing her powers, she wants to fit in, etc.Â
Look at her body language during this scene. Notice how she doesnât want to talk, she mumbles, she wonât even eat. Something is bothering her, but she doesnât want to admit it. She constantly looks sad. Heck, Iâm kind of mad at Helen in this scene for not acknowledging it. Violetâs body language is FREAKING OBVIOUS, any mother should be able to spot it, and ask what the frick is wrong, but Helenâs so preoccupied with trying to be a ânormalâ family that she completely ignores any signs that something is wrong.
And then we get to the problem: When Violet screams about how no one in the family is ânormalâÂ
âWe ACT normal, Mom! I wanna BE normal!â and Dash even agrees, because of the pressure to act ânormalâ that is put on him.
She doesnât want to âbe herselfâ she wants to âfit inâ
She has basically been told her whole life to hide who she is, hide her powers, etc to keep the family safe. Sheâs barely allowed to express herself, something Helen acknowledges later in the film indirectly by apologizing for putting pressure on Violet. Sheâs not just talking about the plane crash, sheâs talking about what sheâs basically done to Violet and Dash THEIR ENTIRE FREAKING LIVES. She basically did the same dang thing Elsaâs parents did in Frozen:Â âConceal, donât feel, donât let it showâ but she never gets called out on it, because she doesnât die before realizing her mistake and fixing it.
Thatâs why after the talk with her Mom, itâs SO DANG IMPORTANT that she pulls her hair back: SHEâS DONE HIDING WHO SHE IS. Sheâs DONE trying to pretend to be normal. She realizes she is someone incredible, and is finally willing to embrace that.
Later, when sheâs wearing bright clothes, it symbolizes sheâs no longer afraid of being seen. Sheâs willing to stand out instead of blend into the background. Seriously, this is some basic cinematography symbolism, here, itâs one of the first things you learn in a film-as-literature class. Her outfit change didnât mark a change in
Violet doesnât become a different person. She learns to be confident with who she is.Â
She didnât change who she was. She gained confidence. Confidence to talk to the boy without turning invisible. Confidence to ask him out. The moral of her story wasnât âLOL those darn introverts need to be extrovertsâ the moral was âYou can do whatever you set your mind to. If you can stop a literal supervillain, you can freaking ask the dang boy out.âÂ
GOFUNDME: SAVE OUR NAVAJO LANGUAGE
âI never learned my Navajo language and I was never inspired to learn it. Â As I got older, I realized how valuable our language is to the livelihood of our Navajo Nation. â -Dr. Shawna L. Begay
Our Navajo or DinĂŠ language is in danger of becoming extinct.  Help us create and develop the first Navajo-English educational media TV puppet show, âDinĂŠ BĂ NĂĄâĂĄlkid Timeâ which means âThe Navajo Movie Time.â  It will inspire and teach our youth basic language skills using media as a technology tool. Parents, grandparents, children and grandkids can learn to speak Navajo  fluently together within their own homes. Long-time friends and educators, Dr. Shawna L. Begay and Charmaine Jackson have teamed up to create this new TV pilot for an all-ages audience or for anyone who wants to learn the Navajo language.  With your support, itâll be the first educational Navajo and English puppet show that will teach and preserve the Navajo language and culture through digital media.
After several years of extensive research on the Navajo Nation, Dr. Begay recently completed her PhD from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas with her doctorate thesis, âDeveloping A Navajo Media Guide: A Community Perspective.â As project director, she quickly realized she was a pioneer on the topic.
âWhen I decided what topic to study I realized there existed very little research in Indigenous educational media, especially with our Navajo people,â stated Dr. Begay. Â âAs Navajo people, we have our own learning objectives and Navajo way of knowing is completely different for Euro-Western schooling. Â I decided that I had to research and develop our own curriculum guide that is meant to teach Navajo through media.â Dr. Begay and Jackson, co-writers of the show, developed the first 3-puppet characters and plan for many more. The pilot features Nanabah-a young Navajo girl, GĂĄh (Rabbit) and DlÇŤĚÇŤĚ (Prairie Dog) who will go on endless adventures learning about language, gardening, the environment and the importance of family values. Nanabah is fluent in Navajo and likes to teach children about life on the reservation with her animal friends and special guests. Â Children who want to learn Navajo will also be an important part of the show by interacting with Nanabah, her friends and storyline. Dr. Begayâs research concluded there exists very little research in the area of Indigenous educational media. Currently media is a very powerful tool that can be used to teach. She is cognizant of the digital age we live in and the opportunities to utilize media to revitalize the Navajo language. Â âStar Wars and Finding Nemo,â dubbed in Navajo, was a great place to start and it has garnered national exposure of our language. However, we need a show based on our own Navajo learning principals our ancestors set out for us to learn and live by. I donât think a non-Navajo, non-Native or non-Indigenous person can do that for us, nor should they. Â We, as Navajo, need to produce this show ourselves, if we are to be truly sovereign,â added Dr. Begay. Both educators, Dr. Begay and Jackson, of Naalkid Productions have been talking about this educational language project for about the past four years and still have a long way to go to finance their dream. âWith the support of Navajo TV Anchor Colton Shone, our team of Navajo artists, filmmakers, family and friends, this video pilot is a huge step forward,â said Jackson. Â âOur journey has just begun and the big next step is finding financial support to create a whole new puppet TV series.â We aim to raise $50,000 with this project which will allow us to continue with pre-production and production aspects of making this digital media project become a reality. Â We need your help to save our language by teaching Navajo to our future generations. Pre-Production: -Script writing for the pilot show -Puppet Development/Creation -Casting for puppeteers and other talent that will be on screen -Hiring of all key cast and crew Production: -Locations and permits -Rental of Studio space -Equipment: cameras, sound, lights, etc. -Cast and Crew budget
Despite all the notes on this post, theyâre still at $13,155 of their $50,000 goal.Â
Please keeping sharing and donate if you can!Â

They're so cute! Made stickers for this great couple. Made stickers and stuff on Redbubble. Feel free to share around. Iâm so broke, I canât afford ramen noodles anymore. https://www.redbubble.com/people/tkostudios/works/27784034-hey-dw?asc=u&ref=recent-owner">https://www.redbubble.com/people/tkostudios/works/27784034-hey-dw
ssssoooo juuuuust a little bit of an update haha um
my financial situation isnât any better
hereâs the breakdown
monthly phone bill: 130$ tax payment: 50$ car insurance: 70$ petcare: 70$ gas: 50-70$ per week other various bills: 90$
total credit card debt: $1315, of which i have to pay off half in the next two months due to a settlement agreement.
so in total, to get by every month without falling behind, I need 500$. I have, in total in my bank account right now almost nothing.
I uhhh donât really know what the fuck to do. Iâm terrified and panicked because this is awful and I hate it and I feel fucking pathetic as hell to have to keep asking money and I hate that I havenât been drawing but like
the stress of having no money is adding to my inability to draw and instead of not cracking under pressure i am absolutely crumbling to pieces and i am back to sleeping like 18-20 hours a day because my fucked up brain canât function.
I called the Illinois DHS today to try and figure out if I can reapply for food stamps but they just gave me a lot of confusing info that led to me finding out that if I do reapply for food stamps, Iâll have to update my address which will lead to the stoppage of my medical coverage and require me to reapply to BCBSIL, if they even contract with the county I currently live in, OR, choose a new provider if theyâre available.
so basically Iâm fucking losing my mind. I donât know what to do. I canât get a regular 9-5 job until roach figures out their transportation to and from the city because originally I was supposed to drive them to their welding training but because my car sucks gas itâs costing like 50$ a week IF gas prices are low and neither of us can afford that and they only get a 25$ gas card per week.
so Iâm like, floundering here! I donât know what to do.
I fucking hate hate hate hate HATE asking for help but I am beyond desperate at this point. I wish I wasnât like this, I wish I was still functional and working but Iâm not, and I canât even get fucking SSI because I donât qualify for it.
so I guess Iâm asking for help again.
I want to get a normal 9-5 job after things settle a little more because I canât stand this uncertainty anymore and Iâm sick of fucking having to reach out and beg to keep my life going.
nerosfishbowl at gmail dot com is my paypal
please please please share this, Iâm like on the verge of tears as I write this and iâm desperately ashamed but i like straight up donât know what the fuck else to do.
things are still pretty damn tight. i have a bunch of expenses coming up so⌠any reblogs or donations in literally any amount would be hugely helpful ;;

WARNING ABOUT TEECHIP AND OOSHIRTS AND FAN MERCH ADS ON FACEBOOK + TWITTER
So over the last few days, iâve had a lot of messages linking me to a facebook âKingdom Hearts Fansâ page that is advertising my KhBBS poster on sale, which links to a TeeChip campaign. DO NOT SHARE ITEMS ON THIS FB PAGE, BLOCK âEM IF YOU HAVE TO. IF YOU SEE YOUR ARTWORK UP HERE, REPORT IT DIRECTLY TO FACEBOOKâTHESE GUYS WILL NOT ANSWER YOUR MESSAGES. This isnât the first time TeeChip has done this, this is about the 4th time iâve seen my stuff up there, and iâm super fed up. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOUR: IF YOU SEE ANYTHING SOLD BY TEECHIP/OOSHIRTS, JUST WALK AWAY, WARN OTHERS, AND DO NOT PROMOTE ANYTHING THAT LINKS TO THEIR WEBSITE.
If you havent heard about Teechip/OoShirts (the same company under different names, but TeeChip is the more rampant one of the two), theyâre a shirt printing company that does similar things to legitimate sites like Redbubble, Qwertee, TeePublic, Once Upon A Tee, etc.
TeeChip run campaigns that last a day or two, and they primarily target pop culture and create ads that often shows up on Facebook pages or on Twitter.
ALL OF THE ART USED FOR THEIR DESIGNS ARE STOLEN.
They do not have the permission from the artists. While I canât speak for all the artists, there is a vast number of artists who have complained on social media about TeeChip using their designs without permission.
Not only do they steal artwork, they scam people of their money by overcharging, mishandling orders, not shipping orders, printing shoddy items, and refusing to offer refunds. There have been numerous anecdotes from people saying that TeeChip will immediately charge their order but fail to send confirmation emails, or respond to customer service about wrong/shoddy orders. There have also been cases where TeeChip double charge people for a single order. If you go to their Twitter and Facebook, all you see are posts made by people demanding to know whatâs happening with their orders, and for them to stop using art that they donât have permission to print. If you want an extensive library of complaints to read through, go here to PissedConsumer.com
Theyâre also known to sell celebrity names/branding/current events/political campaign items under the pretense of giving the proceeds to charity.
They will ignore your emails, customer complaints, including dmca letters (iâve submitted letters several times, they either do not reply or take days to answer, by which time the âcampaignâ i want taken down is already done and theyâve already made their $$$)
There are ads on fandom pages on Facebook that are cropping up like crazy, and often theyâll come with a compressed bit.ly or goo.gl link. So if you recognise my art or art from an artist that you believe didnât give permission for them to sell, itâs always best to notify the artist and double check.
RED FLAGS THAT SHOW TEECHIP IS A SCAM:
*There are no artist profiles on their website, despite them saying that the designs are uploaded by their âusersâ and that copyright infringement is at the fault of their users.
*Their posts never come with a link to the artist or any credits to the artist name. *their âlimited time only campaignsâ always reset and stay up for days. *their ads and promotional tweets/posts are *everywhere* on social media, pushed out by bots.
*they take forever to respond to messages, if at all.
*one website will have them as âvery goodâ in all their consumer reviews that are written in a very similar language, while another website is about 1500+ complaints of their company that includes photos to show the items received from teechip
READ THIS ARTICLE (IGNORE THE âLIBERAL TEARSâ HEADLINER, THE MESSAGE ON THE MUG IS BESIDES THE POINT) THAT TALKS ABOUT TEECHIP AND OOSHIRTS AND THE ENTIRETY OF THEIR SCUMMY PRACTISE

My good friend (NOT REALLY OH GOD I HATE HER BUT SHE MAKES ME SAY THINGS) @cunch just made some freakishly cute pins and stickers, and, if youâre into that sorta thing you should go buy them! If youâre NOT into that sorta thing you should still buy them because OH GOD SHEâS GONNA HURT ME CALL THE POLICE.
That ghost with a strawberry on his head is my favorite because he looks so unhappy about there being a strawberry on his head.
http://cunchstop.mysupadupa.com
These pins are too friggin' kewt!
aight suits have come up a lot today. let me try to cobble this together real quick
menâs suits look simple from a distance but theyâre actually pretty complicated. this is partly due to the complexity of their task (make any man look good!), and partly due to the length of their evolution
i am not going to pretend an artist needs to be persnickety about Suit Rules, weâve all probably got better things to do with our time, but there are some basic things one ought not to screw up in order to be passably convincing
SUIT JACKETS ARE NOT WAIST LENGTH. The bottom of the jacket is at least sleeve-length, usually about a palmâs length longer. Itâs not unusual for the hem to land at the bottom of the crotch - where the pants split into right and left legs.
KNOW HOW TO DRAW A REAL LAPEL. Lapels are those foldy-outy bits on your coat collars. Some outerwear lapels even button across the coat to protect you from the elements. Thereâs a LOT of varieties of lapels, though they can be roughly sorted into 3 types. The most common type is the notched lapel. If you donât want to learn about the other ones, thatâs fine. Just make sure you learn that one. Remember that the notch is in the upper third of the lapel, not in the center.
TIE KNOTS SIT FLUSH WITH THE COLLAR. THE COLLAR IS FLUSH WITH THE NECK. for some reason a lot of peopleâs Babbyâs First Suit drawings have these loose dress collars with a neck gap, and then the tie is drawn so it appears loose around said loose collar. You can see the portion of the tie that goes around the neck, coming out of the knot. You shouldnât be able to see that - you should only be able to see the knot, with the top edges of it under the collar. The collar shouldnât âgapâ from the neck. Furthermore, the back of the jacket should not gap from the collar, unless the characters are doing crazy things with their arms. Point 3 does not apply to people intentionally drawing ill-fitting suits and shitty tie knots.
You can skip town now, if you want. Thatâs the important stuff.
