I know I've already fawned over him on Art Fight but I wanted to add him to my main blog.
You know, this is oddly appropriate considering the silly amount of times in the FFtMg episodes script, the artistic direction for Hermes is like "pouts like very soggy wet cat" or "hisses like pissed soggy wet cat" or "perches on Crocus' lap like very dignified cat" or "lounges in the sunlight, stretching like a very content cat" or "melts into puddle like very very content cat."
There might be a reason FFtMG is an illustrated webcomic and not a written fanfic lmao.

About 25% of black swan couples consist of two swans of the same sex (typically, two males).
These couples will court each other, build a nest, and raise their young together in a more-or-less committed monogamous relationship.
In fact, these same-sex couples have a high success rate of 80% when raising their young to adulthood, as opposed to the 30% of their heterosexual counterparts! Two big buff papa swans are better than one when it comes to stomping on invaders of nesting territory.
"But," I hear you say, "where do their baby floofballs come from? Does mpreg exist among black swans?"
Alas, no, but there is a very elegant solution to this. The swan couple may simply temporarily associate themselves with a female swan.
Afterwards, the female swan deposits their eggs and swims off free to live her single girlie life if she wishes (or, find a boyfriend. Preferably one who isn't already committed to another boyfriend.)
So whenever someone commits the naturalistic fallacy "homosexuality bad because unnatural >:(" I like to point out not only their glaring illogicality, but also, respectfully, there is homosexuality happening in the local lake right now.

Only the author knows what the author knows >:) But you're right, FFtMG is definitely more like an illustrated fanfic than a myth-accurate literary masterpiece, so your theory is definitely not out of the realm of possibility...
As for the happy ending, I confessed right from episode one that I'm a wuss who's only chucking bricks (because buildings are too heavy). So there won't really be a focus on Crocus' death if that's what you're worried about!
Hmmm... And we'll see about the happy ending.

There's a really nice local Greek restaurant I know that offers set meals, named after various figures from Greek myth, e.g. the "Oceanus" for the seafood meal, the "Adonis" for the wild boar + lettuce salad (foul!!) etc.
Imagine having to keep a straight face, when I, the Extrovert Friend™, order:
"A small Adonis, two regular Oceanus-es (??) and...
an extra-large Priapus."
(The last one is for my two vegetarian friends who think they're funny.)
