Weβre moving to Vancouver, WA
Bizarre, gigantic news.
Sometime in June, Emily and I will be moving to the Portland area. More specifically, to Vancouver, WA. Emily has accepted a job working with Alexis Bafford at DiscoverOrg.
To answer a few questions before you can ask them:
1. What are you doing with Riddle Room?
Yes, I know I just finished a big Riddle Room expansion. I will continue to own and operate Riddle Room from afar. Since November, when I hired Jack Greve into the role of Riddle Room manager, my physical presence at the space has not been a requirement. In fact, my presence was often a distraction (at least to me), which is why I've been working at CoCo Northeast since January.
2. Will you come back and visit?
Yes, I will be coming back to Minneapolis. A lot. Though my presence is not required at Riddle Room, I have a hard time justifying cutting myself off entirely. I will be around to do inventory, meet with people who require in person meetings, and generally make sure my affairs are being run properly. I expect this to happen for 2-3 day stretches every six or eight weeks.
3. Will you do Pundamonium in Portland?
Yes, I will try to get Pundamonium going in Portland. That's the lowest hanging of low hanging fruit for me, professionally.
4. What will I do with my time in Vancouver?
I will continue the admin, marketing, and new game design work for Riddle Room. I will also be able to focus on what I was just about to start doing before the expansion project took over my life: writing and publishing stuff. I have two podcast projects that are a few hours of extra time per week away from being presentable to the public and I have at least two book ideas that are commercially viable but just have to be written (that's the easy part, just takes a couple days).
5. Will you start a Riddle Room in Portland?
I hope so! But first I will need to amass the full cost of the project in liquid assets (aka cash in the bank), which is probably a six figure number. I have no doubt I'll get there within a reasonable amount of time, but for now I'm done building out new storefronts.
6. Are you leaving town because of me?
Yes.
