⚡️ Screenings ⚡️ Swipe, choose, plan. The 2026 edition of the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin will bring together works that question how images shape our perception of the world. Marked by numerous German premieres, it will open a dialogue between approaches where the political, the intimate and the sensory intersect and respond to one another. Through film, installation, sound or digital imagery, the invited artists explore how images translate, shift or blur our relationship to reality and memory.

✨ Carte blanche✨ Among the highlights of this edition, two exceptional carte blanche invitations will be entrusted to major figures in contemporary creation: Antoni Muntadas – whose critical exploration of media and communication addresses our contemporary society –, and Albert Serra – whose radical cinema explores the limits of fiction and questions time and vertigo.

📽️ Maryam Tafakory ⌛ Born and raised in Iran, Maryam Tafakory works with film and performance. Her unique work unfolds new narratives, with images and the materiality of archives responding to each other in a sensory and poetic experience. Based on a historical event, her work 'Razeh-Del' (2024) subtly and radically raises a multitude of pressing contemporary geopolitical questions. Despite missing images, the director manages to produce a sensual film of rare intensity, where the narrative is infused with a constant exploration of form, resolutely renewing the approach to documentary filmmaking. Maryam Tafakory was awarded the 2025 Moving Image Art Prize, in the framework of the 1st part of Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, in Paris in November 2025.

🎬 Albert Serra 💭 Albert Serra films silence, slowness and the interstices of reality. He has established himself as a unique figure in European auteur cinema. His films draw inspiration from founding stories (Don Quixote, the Three Wise Men, Louis XIV) and transpose them into contemporary landscapes where grandeur dissolves into anticipation. Between the sacred and the trivial, he explores what remains of our myths when heroism is removed: bodies, light and the passing of time. His radical and hypnotic cinema transforms duration into a sensory experience: a journey through time, the body and memory. Albert Serra will present a carte blanche at the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, from 5 to 7 June 2026, at silent green Kulturquartier.
