โฌ ๐ . his irritation is an ancient thing, manifesting in the whirl of his cape, shadows dispersing like a flock of wild birds. emblazoned thus upon the prince's features is his pride, fitted like armour, and he scowls for the indignity that had been so boldly proclaimed unto him. most he loathes that he'd been outmanoeuvred by that pompous peacock! the high halls of @paymons manor do not feel large enough to contain his anger. โ they mock us, father. โ dual sets of ruby eyes narrow toward his sire. in the wake of the judgement, he had half a mind to march loyal legions โ those that would not yield to another but him โ through his estates and secure the properties back, but rational thought and a sharp wit have ever been his virtues, and he knows to conduct his affairs with more precision than that. his father had taught him better. alas, vexation is a candle waxing, his infernal spirit is inflamed with it.
โ this is not justice, this is theatre! an imp, ( he scoffs, ) a creature that can barely spell its own name, testifying against a prince of the ars goetia. โ to set a precedent that ancient aristocracy is subject to the whim of the sins proposes discourtesy, an offence to that precarious order which in hell were sacred, and he beseechs his father not to allow it. it is simply a matter of principle. that his dealings had been illicit and covertly hidden in the shadows, the prince would not deny, nor the transfer of the grimoire, which he had orchestrated, indeed โ yet to bow and sue for grace ought never to be a goetia's place. acidic tone drips, โ shall i expect the next trial to be presided over by imps? a hellhound, perhaps? โ
the potential dynamic of stolas and stella in which they're both equally awful, and she hires an assassin every week to kill him, and he just kisses her cheek goodnight because that's HIS beautiful harpy of a wife โก

i outlined brief character tidbits here, ages ago... but let me ramble a bit more about the evil bird prince and, specifically, how i approach the show canon. ๐ฆ
with regard to the narrative. i portray stolas as an antagonist, as was intended originally in the pilot episode. i draw inspiration from the gothic genre, with stolas as the morally grey-but-mostly-wicked antagonist that looms as a constant threat / nuisance for blitzรธ and IMP, tackling themes of classism and the political structure of hell โ given that their business only exists because stolas permits it.
with regard to his origins. i will eventually make a detailed lore post on the ars goetia. as detailed in the lesser key of solomon, or the lemegeton, there are seventy-two demons comprising the dynasty of the ars goetia. stolas himself is the thirty-sixth demon and he is ancient. abiding by demonology, the ars goetia, the most ancient of them, are the fallen angels that once served lucifer in his rebellion against heaven, aiding him in his quest against the Lord. (whether this rebellion was a war, as in paradise lost, or rather the mere act of tempting lilith & eve, as in the show.) for their loyalty, they were granted command over lucifer's legions and his magic & grimoires. stolas himself was young during the time of the rebellion / the fall, os his memories are only vague. of the ars goetia & their respective powers, stolas' domain is astronomy. he embodies the pursuit of knowledge, a scholar among demons if you wish to summon him, offerings he might appreciate are herbs, precious stones
with regard to his ambitions. stolas' ambitions have lain dormant for centuries; he had entertained himself by tormenting mortals before but gradually, hell's influence on earth has dwindled and the days of medieval wars and demon summoning are mostly over. with lucifer absent in the politics of hell, and the power struggles occurring, primarily within the pride ring with all the overlords and their turf wars, stolas thinks it's time hell went back to its former glory. he's mostly just bored of lounging around and gossiping with the aristocrats when once he used to command armies. he would like to amass more power, surely. strike a few strategic alliances.
with regard to IMP and the grimoire situation. as mentioned, stolas grants them the grimoire for their business. he does this on the premise that they do his dirty work for him and take out whatever mortals he needs them to. of course, this is kept hush-hush as it is entirely illegal. whatever this means for his & blitz's dynamic, i leave on a per-interaction basis. i'm down to adjust this, especially in light of the new episodes, and plot something out!
with regard to my headcanons. i think it'd be neat to explore some political intrigue with the ars goetia, to have stolas actively engaged in a political chess game with andrealphus. i'd also like to explore more of his & stella's arranged marriage, and their dynamic, for which i'm open to all sorts of interpretations. basically, i'd love to plot out all the canon dynamics and see how we can make it work. also stolas making deals with sinners / overlords for mutually beneficial reasons.

โ the rumour mill never sleeps. i wouldn't pay mind to idle gossip, sire. โ stolas says with a sigh heaved from his beak in solidarity, as though he is unaware of what the king speaks of, feigning ignorance. a scandal or two is par for the course with the prince, and he would usually revel in the gossip it spurs ... alas, as of now, he would rather his little personal indulgences not bring him problems with lucifer. and truly, he was certain the book was well and safely kept.
โ aha, yes, i imagine you've been keeping busy with the affairs of our great kingdom. still, boredom can erode the spirit โ โ
at the mention of his father, stolas almost sighs; irritation is bitten back beneath an amused facade; despite his mischievous proclivities, he was raised with manners, after all. feathered tail flaps languidly as he leans back in the chair, another rodent neatly devoured with its tail tossed aside atop a side plate. a forced chuckle is granted, โ my father fares well and sends his regards. โ

had he not grown accustomed to her screeching, he'd have surely fallen off his perch โ draped across the divan as he was, a few old tomes scattered about amidst the odd crystal, ancient texts & prose providing some vague sense of morbid entertainment, and a bout of divination for breakfast. still, consider him rather startled, feathers ruffling as he glances at his wife's ( @sinfuldxgenerates ) figure, haunting the the end of the grand corridor.
he can feel the beginnings of a stella-shaped headache settling in even now and he is quite certain he had not given a pretext for her wrath this fine morning. not this very moment, at least.
so, the prince grants her a bemused tilt of his head, tone no more than a smooth, composed, if a bit irked, drawl, โ stella. โ

i presume you're referring to his eyesight being sensitive in the sense of owls being creatures of the night? in which case, the answer is ' to an extent ' ! stolas does tend to dwell in dark locales, his estate relies on candlelit chandeliers and the like, with little natural light, and his own study is rather dim, as he finds it soothing and pleasant. both pairs of eyes collect light in low-light conditions, as owl eyes tend to do. so yes, his eyesight is certainly sharper in the dark, but he can still see and navigate well enough in daylight hours. bright lights are a bit headache-inducing for him.
perched upon an ornate chair, one leg crossed neatly over the other, stolas eyes the king, โ it's in safe claws, you needn't worry. โ he drawls with the theatric wave of a talon, seemingly uninterested in pursuing a discussion concerning that dusty old tome. the prince seems, instead, far more amused with his majesty's presence, and his apparent hunger.
a maid brings forth a tray, abundant with food; mice, a caged little bird, et cetera, of the sort. โ you truly must do us the honour of your presence, my liege. over a brunch, perhaps? my wife and i would be thrilled to host. it must surely get dull, being cooped up in the palace! โ
