It was quite an early morning as we had to get to Jim Jim falls and we were expecting the road to be extremely corrugated. Me and Jordan sat up front this morning hoping it would be less bumpy. To our relief when we turned off the main road there was no corrugation in sight. However, this lead us into a false sense of security. We found the rest of the road hadn’t been graded and only the first tiny section. We stopped at Garnemarr to stretch our legs after the corrugation and for Ange to put the four wheel drive on.  The next part of the drive was on the red sand with little water crossings. We got to Jim Jim falls car park and had a bit of a walk to get to the falls. It started off flat and Ange showed us some of the buoys that they put out to see if there are crocodiles and a trap they set. By the end we were climbing up and over rocks to get to the little beach by the pool. We dumped all our stuff there and swam over the pool, climbed over more rocks and swam to the waterfall. It was a massive swim and it seemed a lot closer when you started. We took a heap of selfies on Jordan’s GoPro and jumped off the little ledge. We had the long swim back to the beach to sunbath and warm up. After the bumpy ride back we made our way to Pine Creek which was an old mining town where we stopped at the road house for snacks. We camped at Mt Bundy station that night but I just stayed in my tent as I felt ill.

This was day one of our tour so it was an early morning. Our tour guide was Ange and our bus was called Odie. Our first stop was Conoburee for coffee. There were two buffalos and a salt water crocodile there too. After that we had a drive to Mary river national park which has one of the highest concentrations of salt water crocodiles in Australia. Here we did Rockhole boat cruise and saw load of crocs! There were more salt waters than fresh wasters there. We had lunch then set off to Kakadu national park. We stopped first at Bowali information centre. We went around the centre then got an ice cream. We pilled back into the van for a quick drive to Ubirr. We saw some rock art here and Ange told us the stories behind the art and about what the space was used for.  After, we climbed up the rocky out look to look over Arnham land. We got some nice pictures from the top including a group photo. It was extraordinary to see the massive changes in the landscape as you stood at the top and looked around. One moment you were looking over a flat, grassy savannah then turn 90 degrees and you were looking at a rocky, hilly landscape. We had the climb back down and travelled to our camp at Cooinda. This camp had little two man tents with mattresses on the floor. After helping with dinner we had a couple of drinks at the bar before heading to bed.

I wanted to get up quite early this morning so we could get used to getting up and going. We got a really nice breakfast at Alley Cats. I got the Avocado smash but with a difference, it had a yellow spice on the top which was really nice. After we went and got a new carry-on bag for Jordan and a new camera because mine had broken. We got back into the air-con and packed all our stuff for the trip as we only had a ten kilo allowance. As the Wi-Fi was working on my laptop I decided to update my blog and sent Jordan to get supplies for dinner. We had a salad with some cooked chicken which we ate in bed.

We flew today to Darwin. The flight was okay, it was quite long but I managed to sleep most of the way. When we got to Darwin we got a shuttle to the hostel but we couldn’t check in yet so we went for a walk to the water front in a little park that was there. After we were quite hot so we went for an iced chai at a little place called Alley Cat’s which is a cool little patisserie. We went and checked in and savoured up the air-con in the room. Jordan was tired so when we were ready we went to Six Tanks for a drink and some dinner. When we got back to the room I took some time to watch the Netflix programmes I couldn’t download offline.

Palm cove. Cairns. Queensland. Australia. July 2017.

Today we went up to Palm cove with Ailen and walked down the pier and along the foreshore a bit. We went food shopping as well before Jordan headed to Port Douglas to get his stuff out of the van. I went to the doctors and went home to start packing. Jordan was late getting back and getting the trailer to the girls so I had to get an Uber in and help him pack down.

I enjoyed having a lie in and a lazy day today while the girls had to work. I had to get up just after midday to sort out the rooms because the new girl Ailen was coming. So her and Hannah were going to share a room so me and Jordan could. Janella went out again tonight but we just stayed in and watched Game of thrones.

My last day! Carly called to complain about the numbers but I didn’t care! I was so glad to finish and walk out of there. We got changed when we got back and headed out to Caffined. It ended up being all of us so: me, Jordan, Gabi and Matt, Janella and Brendon and Hannah. We got a couple of bottles of prosecco and ordered food when we all got there. We got the baked feta for starters and some scallops. The others got boa. After I got the candied pork and Jordan the chilli chook. We rounded it off with some cocktails. I got a gin cocktail with two different types of gin and Jordan got an espresso martini. We finished the night by going to Gilligans for a couple of drinks before heading home.
