A Rose With A Heart

Theodore shrugged. “Its not as spread out and there aren’t a lot of oceans surrounding where I live. Its landlocked. I’m not sure how much of it you’ll like, its a basic village with hunters and villagers, not a ton of royalty.” He pointed out. “But, I would love to have you join us when we get home. I could show you around.”

“I see…” Lily stared at some of the bushes nearby. Yes, they did have flowers blooming on their branches. Apparently none of them were roses though. At least, that’s what she came to understand. She glanced back at the girl, an eyebrow raised. “Wonderland?”

“Me? I’m from France.” Theodore said, smiling at her and hefting one of the bags further onto his shoulder. “Just a small town, a village really.” He admitted. He didn’t like talking much about his town. Everyone there didn’t take too kind to people who loved to read, though being Gastons son gave him some credit.

“I am set up in the East Wing. Room number thirty-six.” He explains, following the path but occasionally keeping his eye on the girl beside him.

For whatever reason, and whatever purpose, Rose made a mental note of his room number. If she was forced to stay - at least until she could arrange for transportation off the island - then she would allow herself to have some semblance of fun.

Theodore smiled and nodded his head. “There is a list posted up by the main room as you walk in. It’ll tell you which wing you’re in and what your room is.” He hums sofly.

Lily bit down on her lip to the point where her teeth threatened to break skin.  As if swallowing down a heavy stone, she glanced up at the girl in front of her. I she could shrink right now or tighten her muscles any further, she would.

“A-Are they supposed to…?” she asked as a simple means of quelling her curiosity.

The girl rolled her eyes and sighed. “Are you that stupid? Pirates don’t bury treasure, we find it.  Other than that, its adventurous and a lot more fun than a boring princess lifestyle. I’d rather be a pirate than a whiny, spoiled princess.” She shrugged.

Theodore shrugged and grinned. “I don’t like to toot my own horn but I have brains and brawn and I think they work pretty damn good together.” He smiled, shrugging with the bags. “Now, we need to find your room.”

Maristela couldn’t help but smirk at the girls face. “Good. Wouldn’t be much of a pirate if I wasn’t.” She shrugged

It was very rare for someone to stand up to the Princess of Hearts, but when it did happen, it tended to render her speechless. She knew from her lessons - the ones she bothered to pay attention to - that pirates were not to be trusted. They were rude, and uncivilized (as her mother had put it), and would steal the jewelry from your very neck if given the chance.

Theodore nodded before he smiled a bit. “Well you know, I could always tag along and carry your stuff for you princess. I wouldn’t mind , it just means I’d get to spend some more time with a gorgeous girl such as yourself.” He said smoothly, winking at her

Maristelas eyebrow went up and she scoffed. “I don’t really give a shit whether you like me or not.” She said, rolling her eyes

“No but I had a map earlier before I gave it away.” He shrugged. From his understanding there was only a few maps given out.

“Never said I was an expert, princess. “ She snarled. “But if they weren’t planted here then the climate  probably isn’t right for them. That or someone else doesn’t like roses either.” She smirked

Her knees would have been shaking if her entire body was not frozen in place. The grip Lily had on her book grew tighter to the point where her nails were digging into the leather cover. 

“I-I…!” Her words were coming out in stutters, despite what the mystery girl had ordered. She forced her gaze to the stones at her feet. “I-I was just… I was…” She swallowed down something in her throat. “I was just… looking at the garden…”
