I think all live-action directors should have at least some experience with animation because the reason why Project Hail Mary is so visually stunning made so much sense when you find out that both of the directors have also written/directed some of the biggest animated movies of the last decade (Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, the Spiderverse movies etc.) like those are people who fundamentally understand visual media.
