Bobbie tilted her head slightly, puzzled again watching Arnav acting so skittish like he never wants to say in one place except for that first interaction they had. Maybe he was very sleepy and this is his regular self, Bobbie considered.

She knows she has the bad habit of being too curious and pressing people for more constantly, so this time she choses not to ask the dude, why are you always in a hurry? and instead just says, “Uh. I’m cool? Just gotta pee real bad, so, guess I’ll see ya for study group time?” she comes up with the excuse to make it seem like it’s better for him to leave alright cause she’s busy, he just looked very awkward trying to be polite and staying when he didn’t seem to want to. “Haha, bye, Arnav, thanks!" 

She waved the map on her hand and hurried out of the room. Now she did notice she needed to pee, guess it wasn’t a total lie.

Bob really didn’t have much of a filter, did she? She was definitely warming up to be his favorite in the group. Arnav stifled an involuntary smile as she blabbed about peeing and nodded. “Alrighty, then. But... Friday, first. We have another... Spanish class, remember? Then study group.”

He waved back softly as she waved enthusiastically and practically jogged out of the room. I guess she really did need to pee. Arnav gathered the strap of his messenger back in his fists and followed her out the door, then straight out the door towards the student center.

Bobbie felt slightly better about this second Spanish class, finally memorizing the words for basic family members and how to introduce herself. 

There was no rush today seeing that she didn’t have work until the next day morning, she could put her things in order… Or take a nap, maybe, she thought. 

Her daydream was interrupted by a piece of paper appearing in from of her. “Sup, Arnav!” Bobbie greeted him, she still didn’t know him properly but he seemed nicer by the day, look at him now, offering her the map she completely forgot to take the other time. 

It had been a simple interaction, she remembers he was half asleep, tired for binging Netflix the night before and and she was looking for the library, wasn’t it? It felt positively great to feel like someone thought of you, even if it’s for something basic as getting around the campus. “Wow, thanks! I definitely still needed this,” she chuckles taking the map from him,  I’ve been doubling my daily steps trying to find the right locations around here.“

She stood up to be at the same level as him, "So how are you? Got enough sleep?”

Arnav returned a small smile. “That sounds like the... worst, to be honest.” He let go of the map as she grabbed it and stuffed his hand into his pocket and took a step back as she stood up to give her space. “Ah, yeah. Definitely more... awake today.” That was the truth, since he had herbally medicated himself to a zombie state and gotten as much of a pain-free sleep as he could get. 

The second Spanish class was just as long and confusing as the first one. Arnav felt bad for not having picked up any Spanish though he lived in the Greater New Orleans Region his whole life, almost as bad as he felt for not having chosen French as his humanities requirement which he did speak a little bit of. Damn him for trying to be an overachiever like he was fuckin’ 18 again.

Professor Lebron released them from class five minutes early (how thoughtful, because Arnav was starving and only had 20 minutes to eat before his next class) and Arnav was stuffing his binder and pencil case into his bag when he found the copy of the campus map he had stuffed into his bag on Monday to give to Bob on Tuesday during the group meeting, which he’d forgotten about. 

He glanced up to the right where Bob sat ahead of him, and saw that she was still sitting there, also packing up to leave. Grabbing the map, he slug his backpack over his shoulder as he walked toward her desk.

Scarlett Rhodes is a girl. Scarlett is learning Spanish. Scarlett is in Delgado Community College. Scarlett has one mom and one dad. Mom is called Hanna. Dad is called Peter. Mom and Dad is South Korea. Scarlett is South Korea.

Scarlett has one brother. Brother is young. Brother is called Jasper. Scarlett has one sister, too. Sister is young, too. Sister is called Ruby.

Scarlett does not have husband.

Scarlett: i think just as long as it needs to be?

Scarlett: the more info you're willing to give, the more i can write, so i'll take it.

Scarlett: next class you've gotta show me pics of dev. not letting you leave until you do!

Arnav: Great. Thanks for being easy to work with. Lol.

Scarlett: Sure thing. And you can do the same for me. Just wanna make sure that what I have down is right.

Scarlett: So, my parents are Peter and Hanna. They're both from South Korea. I'm the oldest of three. I have a younger brother, Jasper, and a younger sister, Ruby.

Scarlett: Good?

Arnav: Yeah that should be fine. How long does this paragraph have to be anyway?

Arnav: My parents are Reepu and Deena. I'm an only child but I have a dog named Dev

Arnav: Hi. Sorry I dipped out so quickly after the meeting yesterday

[Selena nodded her head.] Makes sense. [Selena thought deeply about how she should respond to his question, but thought it best to keep it simple for passing conversation.] No, actually. Back in high school, I always said I wanted to be a nurse. Working in the food industry has been sort of a new dream of mine from the last few years.

Yeah, I’ve had their coffee. [The Marketplace coffee was definitely not an option.] I think I’ll just stop by the Starbucks then on my way out. It’s best I start going anyway. [She started to turn towards the exit, but before she left, she made sure to thank him and say goodbye.] Thanks for the help. I’ll see you at study group then!

[Arnav nodded in response to Selena’s words. He definitely knew what it meant to have your dreams change.] That’s pretty cool. 

Oh, okay.[Arnav sat up as Selena said good bye, waving at her with a small polite smile.] Yeah, see you tomorrow. 

When Arnav returned he seemed, what was the right word, scattered? She let him ramble and simply smiled politely as he gathered his belongings. “Sure thing. Gotta make sure you get there on time, I guess.” She waved. “Hasta luego!” She waited a minute before getting up and heading off herself.

Oh. [She snickered, completely able to see Romeo doing such a thing.] Are you really that deep of a sleeper? Maybe you can empty your pockets yourself into your backpack and then hold on to that for dear life while you nap?

[Arnav shook his head] It’s fine, it’s not that pressing. I’ll just sleep whenever I get home. [Arnav stretched his arms out in front of him.] So. What’s your major? I don’t think I heard... on Friday.

Could say the same about Grey’s Anatomy, so it must be by the same writer. [Selena laughed. As soon as he clarified his major, Selena nodded her head back. Saying ‘Got it’ to herself.] And how did you get into that? Did you always know you’d want to go into computer programming? [Selena scrunched her lips to one side, as she took another glance around the room.] I actually came here, wondering if there was a coffee machine or something. Kinda wanted a cup before driving back home.

My dad’s a... software engineer. And I’ve always been into tech... so, seemed kinda fitting. [Arnav lowered his gaze, not really wanting to talk about it more.] How about you? Did you always want... to be a chef?

“Oh, sounds interesting.” Romeo said, pretending it sounded interesting. Romeo was cool with the fact that Arnav’s building was right there, as he could tell he wasn’t much of a conversationalist and Romeo wasn’t really in the mood anyway. “Bet. See you man.” he said waving with one hand as he was already off in the other direction.

[She chuckled at his comment.] I haven’t watched that one, but I’ve heard a lot about it. I think the writer from Grey’s Anatomy worked on it? Either way, it must be good if it’s been going on for six seasons.

I am, I am. [She tried to remember if he had mentioned his major before.] You were majoring in something with computers, right? Please correct me.

Oh, maybe? I never watched Grey’s Anatomy. And it’s pretty... good. Kinda... crazy, honestly.

“Sounds like we’re a match, then,” she joked, laughing as she did. “There’s too many ways to mess up their lives too and I’m just not down with being that responsible for someone else’s life.”

Arnav was sweet, if a little socially awkward, but maybe that was why she enjoyed his company. And now he was leaving her there with his stuff… “Um, okay?” She pulled out her phone to check her messages while he ran off.

He internally cursed himself as he sat in the bathroom stall, squeezing his face in hands, begging the pain to back off a bit. And now he had to come up with some lie to cover his ass too. 

She was still where he had left her when he came back a few minutes later, her head buried in her phone. He grimaced apologetically. “Sorry.” He kinda rubbed at his stomach, giving a vague excuse. “Emergency... You know.” He picked up his belongings, shoved them into his bag and swung the bag around onto his back. “I actually have to head... out, class in 10 minutes, but it was nice... talking to you.” He gave a halfhearted wave. “See you tomorrow,” he said, before walking out of the student center.

[Shay chuckled a little hearing him struggle to find his footing in the conversation.] I do, and only when I’m tired. But we don’t have to talk if you don’t want to. No hard feelings, I’m of the mind that couches are almost exclusively for taking naps anyway.

Would you like some peace and quiet so you can nap?

[Arnav nodded in appreciation at the offer to NOT talk.] Completely agree. [He said, sitting back into the couch.] 

“Right, right.” Romeo said, trying to remember but knowing it was likely he would forget again and that was fine with him. “Dope. I consider myself a numbers guy but, probably not anything close to what you’re doing. What is it you’re…doing with that?” he said honestly. Working at the restaurant and handling a lot of figures considering he’d been working there so much, not to mention having to be good enough with numbers to do what he intended with his future. “Business.” Romeo said straight, “Entrepreneur shit. Simple stuff, versatile, you know.” he shrugged, knowing his choice wasn’t the most interesting major he could have picked. Truth was, he had to have a game plan and enroll fast, so he took the chance. 

"It’s just a general... degree to work as a programmer, or like an analyst for... some company.” He tried to hide his grimace and nodded in response to Romeo. Today was the most he’d spoken in awhile and it was starting to take a toll. “Solid major.” He responded simply. Luckily the entrance to the Cook Building was right there. “That’s me,” he said, pointing, and started down the sidewalk that would lead him there. “I’ll see you,” he said as they parted, with a quick wave.
