Prologue
“Why did I want to try my hand at adventuring? I’d be honest I never considered it up until recently. I always thought I’d be an alchemist much like my late mother and adoptive father. They both were amazing at the trade too. I wanted to be just like them. Then why throw away a dream like that for something like adventuring?
Recently, I’ve started thinking about my birth father once more. I knew not much about him. My mother passed away before I could even ask her and my adoptive father always had dodged the question. From all that I’ve gathered, I figured he was an adventurer as well. One that came around a lot to visit my mother. I would guess that they must have been pretty close. However, one day he just disappeared. Vanished, without any traces to lead back to him.
My adoptive father never spoke highly of him though. He and my mom were good friends and it seemed as if he didn’t approve their relationship. To put it short, he never really had anything nice to say about him and his experience with him soured his opinions on adventurers alike. I really don’t think that’s all too fair, but if I wanted to learn more about my birth father and how he vanished...then well, maybe I should follow his steps to understand why. Why my adoptive father despised him and why he disappeared.
Never explained my reasonings why I chose this path, but of course my adoptive father did not accept. ...We ended up arguing with me leaving out of frustration. He wouldn’t understand if I had told him anyways and I’m sure he was just worried if the life of an adventurer would do me bad too.
He cares. I know that… I just wish I had left home on a better note. But, it’s too late to turn back as I’m now boarding a ship that’s head for Limsa Lominsa.”
