Development update March 11 10pm
And the game is submitted! I'm pretty tired now. I'll get some footage of the game tomorrow.
That was fun. I forgot how fun game jamming can be. After doing a post mortem on this and catching up on work I'll see if I can squeeze in some time for the procedural death jam.

Development update March 11 720pm
Getting close to the finish line. My brain is mostly melted now. I'm making a lot of stupid programming mistakes. Hopefully should be submitted in about 2-3 hours.

Development update March 10 230pm
Whew got a bit burned out after going for 3 days straight. Was really glad to hear there was a slight extension to the gamejam deadline. I used that time to do some non-computer things and sleep. I'm now back to working on the game. I'm hoping to have maybe 2 missions done.
I'd like to go back and some more missions after the jam since there's a decent framework here. That kind of violates the rule in Rami's blog about doing a game a week. Maybe I can lawyer my away around it by considering the continuation to be episode 2 :) Either way I'll give it a rest right after and come back with some fresh ideas and ways to improve the game.

Erandi Huipe was kind enough to help out with the games soundtrack.
This mix has the first 2 songs in the game. The first one is when you are in your groups hideout and things are subdued. The second is the city area where most of the gameplay takes place.

Development update March 9 110pm
Just finished getting the basic enemies and combat ingame. I'm gonna spend a few more hours refining the combat (gamejam level refinement haha) then I got to spend a few hours drawing a lot of characters and enemies. If I can get 1-2 more missions in I'll be happy.

Got a really good chunk of art done. Just enough to ensure a good chunk of coding without needing to stop for art. Yay!.. :|
I'm a little tired but I'm gonna try to implement as much as I can before I pass out. Looking forward to some overnight development though :)

Development update March 8 730am
I've been up since 5am working in graphics gale on the art for the game. If there's anything I do consistently in my life it's misjudging the time it takes to do art.
I'm doing my best to not allow myself a second pass at any art in order to be able to get this done by the deadline.
I'm worried about writing, I'm going to have to find time and wont have much time to revise/edit

Katana slash
Development update March 7 930pm
Development is going overall the best it has for a game jam. I'm not too stressed... yet.
So I spent most of the rest of the day getting exercise, taking a quick nap but mostly working on the jam.
Basic weapons are in and I have a katana weapon I've done a basic implemetnation. I'm partway through implementing enemies. They show up in the level but spawning and AI aren't done, so there's still a lot of work to do there.
I've also got some awesome music from Erandi Huipe (twitter @erandihuipe ) for the group hideout area. I'll make a post about the music as soon as I get the ok.
I think tonight I'll be working on the hideout art, the music I got gave me some inspiration on the overall look. I want to strike while the iron is hot.
There's a lot of art piling up on my todo list now. If anyone else wants to join in on that front I'm always happy to have more people collaborating :)
