Millie smiled as she caught up with the brunette who’d thankfully held onto Lou before she scurried off towards other dogs or worse, actual traffic. It was a fenced park, but still, she was a tiny dog so the blonde had gotten quite concerned. “Nice to meet you, Ari, thank you so much, I’m Millie and Louisa here is almost three years old” She said with a small smile, picking the dog up in her arms and kissing her “And apparently already an escape artist!”

Ariadne smiled and she made a pouty face, hearing how old the little furball was. She kept scratching the dog’s chin and rubbing her head. “Aw, she’s a big girl! Sweetheart. I want a dog so bad.” She chuckled. “It’s nice to meet you, Millie. Having a day out with little Louisa here? It’s such a pretty day out, I don’t blame you.”

Ari stood and looked over to the woman, shaking her hand. “I was just out for a walk, looks like I naturally made my way to the dog park. I’ve been thinking about adopting for a long time actually. I think it’s time. Especially when my afternoon walk naturally finds its way here.”

The guy she’d been dating recently, trying to start an actual connection with, was giving her the run around... again. He was hot and then cold... yes and then no. Katy Perry was right. Internally she decided to just swear off men entirely and just give up. Every time she so much as tried to make a connection with someone, all they did was disappoint her. She was tired and felt someone near.

“What!?” she asked, looking up and then feeling instantly bad. She sighed. “Sorry... not having an amazing day. I didn’t mean to snap.”

“A rum and coke? C’mon. I thought you’d do better than that,” Devon taunted, leaning over to speak to the person sitting next to them at the bar. “In my experience, college kids who rely on fakes are the only people that drink that. Get somethin’ else like an Amaretto Sour. The Lychee Martini is good too, unless that’s too out there for you.” The Chef nodded in thanks as the bartender set a glass of dark liquor before him. It had been a long night of searing steaks, roasting chicken and making sure every dish that left his kitchen’s window was perfect. One glass surely wasn’t enough to coax his tense and tired muscles to relax, but it was a start. “Just don’t get a damn rum and coke.” @codstarters​

Ariadne was extremely used to men ‘mansplaining’ alcohol to her. Sometimes on her nights off from being a bartender meant she often ended up at other bars or restaurants to unwind. Tonight was no different. She let the man speak as he spoke his peace. All points completely valid. However, she tended to enjoy old favorites. She was a creature of habit and that usually meant sticking to a few choice drinks. “I totally see your issue but to be fair, this rum is quality. It’s a vintage Diplomatico rum with a coke, yes... but the garnish of orange elevates the flavor profile. It compliments the bitterness. Also, I asked for a bit of mint leaf to be shaken in the rum before pouring it into the glass. The fizz from the coke brings it all together.” She smirks and takes a sip. “But sure, go for a fancy ass cocktail. Do what you like.” She grinned, teasingly.

There’s a stripe of yellow paint across her cheek that she hasn’t noticed. She took her lunch break to work in the office slash studio Barnard had offered her when she got the job, and now she was rushing to catch a taxi, even though she didn’t really have anywhere important to be. Dinner at her dads that she’d much rather not be attending, anyway. She’s got a bag around her shoulder but she’s also got two books in her arms, leaving her to focus on not dropping them and reaching for the door handle of the taxi with her free hand. She pulls it open, slides into the seat and finally, finally relaxes back against it, leaning her head back against the head rest, that’s when she spots it, someone else in the taxi next to her. Her eyebrows raise and she sighs, exasperated “oh no, I’m not getting out, I was here first.”

Ari was on her way to work so she figured taking a taxi would be a better option than the subway today. It was quite full and she really hated people infringing on her personal space so once she hailed one, she got in and the journey to her bar began. She was occupied with an app game on her phone when she felt the taxi come to a stop. She figured it was just a light and didn’t pay it any mind. Suddenly, she heard the back door on the opposite side of her open and felt someone get in. 

She shot her eyes up and jumped. “What the hell! No you weren’t! I’ve literally been in this cab for 4 blocks!” 

“Louisa, come back here!” The blonde shouted at the park. That corgi mix may have been small, but somehow, she’d snapped her leash in half (granted, it was like three years old and Lou had chewed through it several times, Millie just hadn’t had enough time to buy another one). Thankfully, someone seemed to stop the dog. It wasn’t too hard, Louisa would stop to be pet by anyone who offered, honestly. “Oh, thank you so much“ Millie said, out of breath with a small smile “Good God, I never thought she could ran this fast, you scared the life out of me, LouLou” @codstarters​

Ari smiled up at the blonde as she knelt down to pet the new friend that had scurried up to her. “Oh, don’t worry about it. She’s so cute! How old is little LouLou?” She smirked. “I’m Ari by the way.”
