Inquisition & Interrogation

Another device of not so gentle persuasion often utilized during the Witch Trials and Inquisition.  The “Wooden Horse” sometimes referred to as the “Spanish Donkey.”

Witch-Finder applying the “Witch’s Bridle.”  A most severe form of gag/torture.  Though not intended to cause death to the Witch, sometimes (though rarely) that was the end result.

As the spiked iron phallus type device was designed to be forced very deep into the woman’s/Witch’s mouth and indeed down into her throat before being locked in place, the damage done was sometimes quite severe leading to massive tearing and bleeding, and in rare and unintended cases her slow, painful death from literally drowning in her own blood and saliva.

In this image, however, I prefer to think that she will only be locked in the device for a day or two until she is ultimately released and subjected to interrogation by different methods.
