today i divulged musings about the boy of my dreams to my mom in the kitchen while songs of leonard cohen (cd which was formerly lost) played on the stereo. i think i did it because the end of the summer feels so imminent to me. i told her that sometimes i miss the things i've never had and how i hold out for them a little bit too, even still. she relayed the meet-cute of my father and her, reminding me how timing is always right. reminding me how we only get what we need.
