His expression here... The way it changed before shifting back to normal when he said the next line. You can see his mind clouding with unpleasant intentions again as he thinks about it - Xiao Chen leaving him. Just the thought of it happening again caused a quick, dark shift in his demeanor.

Disturbing and swoon-worthy. What a combo.

The first words to come out of his mouth.. He could have pretended to look surprised seeing them and even tried to look happy to see Yi-chen walking again just for Yichen's sake. I think in the novel Yichen said Lu Feng's lack of his reaction at seeing Yi-chen on his feet really disappointed him.

(Baby that man doesn't care how his actions affect others and he literally cares for no one else on earth but you, and not to the extent where he cares about what you care about, unfortunately. Your brother could drop dead right then and he'd see you in distress and still say "Let's go home, I'll take care of you, all we have is each other now, leave the body, forget about him, he's gone lol😅)

"I had to do it because then otherwise you'd leave me. Man's gotta do what a man's gotta do"

Yichen, you've known this man almost a lifetime. You've heard him express an irrational fear at you leaving him, you've heard him threaten to hunt you down and imprison you forever if you ever left him, you've seen how he gets when you'd talk about leaving him, and you've seen and experienced the wrath of the animal he can become because you left him, and you still ask such a question.

This man will have you watching the show like:

And now look at you, regulated to sitting in your car and watching him talk with and hug his ex wife, hoping he acknowledges your existence at the end of the day.

The fact that he was just sitting there all nonchalant, making himself comfortable on the couch while Zhuo Lan was asking Yichen why he looks sick and has bruises all over his body, not a hint of regret from him.

This part in the book is always the hardest for me to read as well as hard to watch in the 2016 movie version, not only because of all the awful things Lu Feng does to Yichen, but because the hatred from Lu Feng is so strong that I barely even remember that there was once love and start to question whether he even truly loved Yichen at all, and once it's over it's difficult for me to connect to his remorseful arc and their happy ending.

But Ayden humanizes Lu Feng, makes you sympathize with him even as you despise him. When you look into his eyes, you see how his heartbreak has manifested inself into something so twisted, how the resentment equally co-exists with the longing for Yichen, how he is at war with himself during every single moment and is clearly still dealing with the heartbreak he convinces Yichen and everyone else he's gotten over, how hurting Yichen hurts him even more.

The actor really did a very good job here.
