This is fascinating to me. The professional dancers of yesteryear did not hit as sharply as they did today. It was all about loose sync. They can have different amplitudes of their arcs, but so long as the shape of their accelerations matched, the unity of the group is still intact. It’s all about expressing the groove. And in fact, that’s is why I prefer loose sync. I’ve seen technically sharp and precise modern choreo that leaves me cold because as Duke Ellington put it, it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing. It shows how the dancing genre du jour of the time was hip hop, and how the clean synths of EDM really changed what we want out of dancing. And the lol that this is what was really advanced difficult choreography for H!P back in the day. Then again, they also had insane schedules and so little to no time to practice on their own, much less together.
For potential link rot purposes, this was the Asayan footage of the original choreo demo video for Kiiroi 5.
One day to learn it orz
