I really want the black widows who show up on my patio to feel safe and welcome, which is why I wish they would stop using my trash bins (that need to be dragged to the curb every week) as anchors for their webs.

Like I just caught a gorgeous adult female chilling out on the impressive web she made between the recycle bin and the wall, and I’m already doing calculations in my head re: how long I can get away with not putting the recycling out so I don’t have to knock down her house lol

Brand new (to me) jumper!! Usually I hesitate to ID down to species level on unfamiliar specimens, but I’m almost positive this is a female Sassacis vitis (which I have also seen called the “buttonhook leaf-beetle jumping spider”)
