How do you feel about other buggies? Is it spiders or bust?
"Oh I love all kinds of insects and arachnids! Sure I use spiders a lot because I use their silk for cloth, but I love all kinds from tiny scute bugs and hornets to large scorpions and every cute little buggy in between. They all have what they're good at, my spiders are better at weaving and textiles while my other insects and arachnids are more combat inclined."
What's it like being guildless? Does it ever cause trouble for you?
"Honestly it's so much easier to be guildless when you are running a business. I feel like some of my more... traditional clients would perhaps feel a little more uncomfortable with me if I was officially part of a guild. And sure unless I have a good connection with someone there I don't get the benefits of being guilded but that's a cost I'm willing to pay to be able to continue my craft."
"No I'm not from around 'here' in any sense of the phrase. I would assume my manner of dress more than makes that obvious." The Raen woman says with a shake of her head. "Seems that if I'm to stay around here, I'll need new clothes. At least to blend in more. My personal looks,I can likely blame on that Simic guild I heard about before." The woman ponders as she speaks mostly to herself with that second statement. "It is nice to meet you Arachne, anyone who helps others is good in my book."
âEh,â Arachne shrugged. âTo be honest Iâve seen the Rakdos wear weirder garments. But then again you acted far less reckless than they tend to be.â She takes a moment to notice the small details in the womanâs clothing.
âI would have to agree however. You will get far fewer confrontations and odd looks if you wore a more familiar outfit. I would be more than happy to help with that, especially if you allow me to take a pattern of your current clothing. They appear to be made with quite exceptional skill.â As the foreigner mutters under her breath the red eyed mage takes in her horns, scales, and tails. âMmm, probably for the best to blame the Simic for those. Itâs not abnormal for them to fuse anything they can get their hands on. Hence the abominations known as krasiâŚ
âThat aside. Where were you heading before the Azorious guard stopped you?â
âThe idea was to speak to a sphinx named Isperia, or a dragon named Niv-mizzet?â She says clearly unused to the language on her tongue. âApparently those two would be the most reliable about the information I was searching for. HonestlyâŚI donât much know where I am. Only that Iâm here now, with no was to get back where I was.â
Lynn muses a little bit more âYes, that would be fine, Iâll let you take the pattern of my Haori and Hakama.â She tells the seamstress. âI wonât disarm myself however, those are my terms.â
Arachne gives a hearty laugh. "I think you'll find it difficult to say the least to get an audience with Judge Isperia. Those guards work for her and I hate to say but the entire guild is like that. Their permits need permits." She shakes her head at the absurdity if the Azorious and their need for everything to be controlled. "Now Niv-Mizzet you might be able to figure something out for. The secret to getting an audience with him is to impress everyone. You start with the goblins and work your way up until you get to meet the Fire Mind. Try not to annoy or bore him though. He has a tendency to... Eat those who he deems are not worth his time." The mage warns Lynn before taking a moment to ponder.
"You know. If it's information you seek I can probably do you one better than trying to get an audience with a guild leader. Come, I shall introduce you to Lady Rhytt. I'm sure she can help you." Arachne starts down the road for a moment before turning her head to make sure Lynn is following. "And you can certainly keep your sword when I take patterns of your clothing. Though it will hardly be necessary if we are at my shop. Though I suppose you could use it to move Spidy or Pavouk if they get a little too friendly."
"No I'm not from around 'here' in any sense of the phrase. I would assume my manner of dress more than makes that obvious." The Raen woman says with a shake of her head. Arrested Development
Arachne would only notice the scurry of soldiers rushing past her in response to some kind of call. Soon after the reason would be made apparent as a voice could be heard shouting the district over.
âIâM BEING ARRESTED, FOR WHAT?!? NOT HAVING A PERMIT?!? WHAT IS THIS SHITE!â The woman screamed. She was a short little creature, not even five feet tall. That did not stop her however, from cowing the Azorious guard who was trying to detain her.
âMa-ma'am, you d-donât have a permit for those blades, you canât carry them in the open like that.â The guard stammers out, trying to maintain his position of authority.
âTHATâS THE MOST BULLSHIT THING IâVE EVER HEARD!!â She says stepping on solid air to look the guard in the eyes. âI use my sword for the People. That is why I carry it, you will not detain me for having it.â She tries to calm herself, but the guard starts to chant a spell. A rune appears over Lynnâs head, she looks up and glares at it. Flaring her aether, the rune breaks with the sound of breaking glass. âThe laws of physics donât contain me, soldier, what chance do you think you had?â
Walking through the busy streets of the tenth district was always a challenge even on the best of days but today was particularly bad. Arachne moved through the crowds with ease that could only come with familiarity. âMust be some sort of trouble in the area todayâ she thought as she continued to make her was back to her shop. After making a quick servey of the crowded streets in front of her she makes a sharp left and heads down a small side street tying to bypass some of the crowd.
âOut of the way!â A soldier shouted as he charged down the alley nearly running into the seamstresses. Another three soldiers were following close behind him forcing Arachne to plaster herself to the brick wall of a building to allow the soldiers to pass.
â(grumble, grumble)âŚrudeâŚ(grumble, grumble)âŚholesâŚ(grumble, grumble)âŚSerraâs gift to the plane.â She grumbles to herself after letting the Azorious soldiers pass. Just as she emerged from the shade of the building and back onto another main street she hears a woman shouting and quite angrily from the sound of it. The sun glints off of several soldierâs armor as the surround what appears to the the source of the shouting, a small woman with⌠Was that tail scaled? âHuh. Thatâs not something you see everyday.â Arachne thinks pausing to see what was going on. As she watches the confrontation unfold she becomes more and more amused. While this woman was clearly not familiar with the Azorious and their so called âprotocolsâ it was entertaining to see them knocked off their high horses for a moment.
She letâs the argument go on for another moment before stepping forward hoping to de-escalate the situation before it got any worse and caused the entire district to be at a standstill. âAre you sure your helmets arenât on too tight?â Arachne questions the Azorian soldiers as she lightly shoulder checks knee to the side to get past. âCanât you tell that sheâs part of the Boros? And a high ranking officer too. I would leave her be if I were you. That is unless you want to face Aureliaâs wrath.â
Lynn overhears the woman from behind her. The guard however stiffens more at the mention of the wrath of an Archangel.
âWe will let you off with a warning this time, if youâre a member of the Boros, you should know better than to go out armed without your permits. Even if it is your âday off.â â
The guard makes sure to get the last word in, before he and his group clear out. The dragoness, still fuming, turns to her savior and takes a deep breath.
âSo, are they always this pigheaded? Or do you really need that many permits for walking around town?â
Arachne scoffs at guardâs words and watches them leave. She hates the Azorious. Hates how they feel like they are somehow above everyone else.
âI wish I could say that they are the outlier but most of them are like that. Entitled, rude, and absolutely infuriating.â She rolls her eyes thinking about them. âAs for the permits, they at least think you need to have a permit for anything and everything. Iâm honestly surprised they donât require you to have a permit for breathing.â The mage takes a step closer to the woman. âAre you okay?â
Lynn steps down from the air she stood upon. âPerfectly fine, just a little infuriated. Stopping me because I 'looked suspicious.â Really, we can just stop people for their looks?â She shakes her head disappointed. âThanks for the save, I didnât want to actually fight my way through a crowd this large.â She rests one hand on her katana, and offers her other to the mage. âMy name is Lynn, thanks for helping me out.â
As the foreigner moves, Arachne notices that she was standing on what appeared to be nothing. Perhaps she just cast an invisibility spell? But for what purpose? Arachne mentally filed the thought away to revisit later. She looked down at the woman, Lynn she called herself, and realized just how much shorter the woman was than herself. However despite just barely being shoulder height she definitely had a lot of power.
"They sadly do that all the time. That and they will round you up for you affiliations as well just because they don't like them..." She trailed off caught up thinking about her mother for a minute before shaking the thoughts out. "I'm Arachne. And it was no problem. I'm more than happy to take the Azorious down a peg or two." She gives the other woman a firm handshake. Taking a step closer and dropping her voice slightly to hopefully prevent others from overhearing. "You aren't from around here are you." She states more than questions.

Reblog if you're okay with other characters developing crushes on your characters.
Tension was thick in the air at the seamstressâ shop. So thick that one could metaphorically cut through it with a knife. The silence accompanied by the tension was awkward at best. Arachneâs hands were flashing across the fabric, stitching up edges and cutting loose threads. Her mind was running just as fast as her hands. What had Ann been thinking? Since when did she think it would be a good idea to work with Vraska? When did she stop being afraid of the gorgon and start looking up to her? Questions flooded her mind, all centered around the young, blue-eyed woman sitting in the same room as her.Â
The spider summoner dropped the garment abruptly on her work table and quickly turned towards her friend. âWhat is Serraâs name were you thinking Ann?!â She half questioned and half shouted, anger and confusion laced in her words.
Ann flinched, feeling just as guilty as Arachne was angry. âI wasnât, really.â She frowned. âI was scared, and thatâs sort of all I was going on. There was the whole thing with Sarah, and then the Shapeshifter, and⌠I was frightened, and Vraska was there, and I know better than to be choosy when my life could potentially be on the lineâŚâ
âOther than that, I know I was stupid. I know I was an idiot. I just⌠She sometimes was kind and comforting and⌠I guess I just wanted that too muchâŚâ The younger woman pulled her knees up to her chest, with a sigh. âI⌠I donât know. Iâm sorry, okay? I have⌠I have a lot on my mind, now. A lot more than I really need.â
As Ann spoke, Arachne felt her anger disperse and she sagged slightly from her rigid, anger filled state. However some of the things Ann spoke about stuck out like a sore thumb. They did not make sense. âWhat about the shapeshifter? I thought that that whole thing was resolved. I mean last I really heard from you, you were hallucinating seeing your sister but how does that equate to your life being on the line?â Questions filled the corseted womanâs mind swarming around like angry bees. She spoke her questions as fast as her mouth could speak them, but some of her words got caught on her lips as she spoke. âWait... No... You...â She stopped herself and took a breath before continuing. âHow about we start from the beginning? From the last time we spoke. I mean really spoke.â The older woman emphasized, staring her friend down. She was determined to understand what had happened.

âUhh⌠Iâll cover money⌠Bring an extra change of clothes, and maybe some matches and other stuff you think youâll use⌠the weather is sort of cold-ish, and a little rainy. Mostly dark. Kinda gloomy. I canât say how long weâll be gone.. and weâll go as soon as youâre ready?â Ann shrugged, trying to remember to answer all of her friendâs questions. âI mean, make sure youâre wearing really comfortable shoes, too. Weâll be doing a lot of walking on uneven terrain. Their streets arenât as nice as ours.â
Arachne looked at her friend with a puzzled look when Ann said she would cover the finances. That was strange of her, she normally did not have much funds. Arachne shook her head softly and barely noticably. Perhaps the mind mage had been running extra errands for Auntie. Putting the confusion out of her mind, she listened to the other woman nodding as she spoke. Once Ann was finished Arachne gave a final nod of confirmation.
âOkay, so heavier cloths, some matches along with a pack. and comfortable boots. Got it.â She made a mental list in her head. âGive me the night to get ready and Iâll meet you back here in the morning.â
annofravnica:
âIâve been there a few times so far, and I havenât had any issues yet.â Ann huffed, and puffed her cheeks out. âBesides, there are also angels there that fight against the bad things.â She waved her hand, as if waving away the negativity her friend was mentioning. âWeâll be fine.â
âIf you are sure.â Arachne replied, wanting to m her friend would be okay. âAlright, so when do we head out? What should I bring with me? What is the weather like there? How much money should I bring with? How long will we be gone for?â The seamstress bombarded the smaller one with questions not knowing what to do next.

Ann rolled her eyes at Arachneâs antics, and huffed. âFine. Get up. Weâre going now.â The younger woman stood, and pulled at the otherâs hand. âWeâre going, if you want to go that bad! Iâll take you with me, to Innistrad. I know it best, so it should be safest.â
Arachne was slightly surprised at how little convincing her friend needed, but she wasnât going to look a gift horse in the mouth. She rose with Ann tugging on her hand. âI do want to go! Innistrad, are you sure you are going to be okay with the... um... you know... vampires.â Arachne put emphasis on the last word, knowing her friend had troubles with the race before.
annofravnica:
âWhatâs wrong Arachne? You seem upset.â Â The little mage sat next to the sighing beastmaster. âWas it something I said?â
Ann had just finished describing the coastline of Theros. Sheâd only been there for a brief period- as per Lady Rhytâs request. It was to gain familiarity with going to the plane, rather than an exploration based visit. Â She had, at one point, caught a glimpse of some star-stuff, as the tide rolled in, but had fled back to Ravnica before Thassa had whipped the sea into another frenzy.
âThatâs it! Next time you go on an adventure, Iâm going with you!â Arachne declared, sitting up and staring intently at her friend. âIts not fair that you get to go on all these fun trips, besides I want to see the fashions of another plane.â The red eyed woman continued. âAuntie canât keep me here forever!â She shouted loud enough for said woman to hear.
