my wandering days

Have been recently visiting "the only Belgian friterie in Paris", De Clerq.

They have convenient holes in the counter for holding the cones of fries.... which are great! And though the beer selection isn't amazing, you can also eat them in the cosy bar next door, like in Brussels.

One sunny day in December, I decided to finally go visit the Arc de Triomphe. I didn't go to the top, I just crossed the Etoile via the underground walkway and wandered around, among many other tourists, to see all of the sculptures and admire the monument's details.

Centre Pompidou currently has an expo on called "Danser Sa Vie", which, unlike the other past exhibitions I've seen, does not really interest me. There are a lot of abstract dance-inspired paintings, drawings, and sculptures, and some very unusual performance pieces - both live and on video.

Galeries Lafayette has really cool vitrines for Christmas - rock and roll puppets "Kouklitas" by Andrew Yang.

In September, while walking through the Tuileries with my parents, we saw this interesting sculpture "Poems for Earthlings" by Adrian Villar Rojas.

It was featured as part of FIAC 2011 in late October:

Inspired by contemporary literature, classical culture, science fiction and comic strips, his work deals with the theme of the end of humanity: what will remain after the end of the world, after the end of art? Inscribed in a time-line conceived as a loop, Poems for Earthlings appears as a ruin, the remains of a future civilization. Like other monumental sculptures by Adrián Villar Rojas, this ephemeral work is destined for destruction.
