backstory;
april was abandoned by her mother when she was born -- the extendable tongue and uncontrolled toxin excretion must have been too much to handle. she left april wrapped up in a blanket, near an abandoned shack in the woods. luckily, the baby was found by a middle-aged, free spirited woman, while she was out looking for herbs and flowers. seeing as she was born and found during the month of april, that was what the woman decided to name her. later on, she was given the middle name of lily, after the woman’s favourite flowers, and the surname honey, because of april’s love for the story of winnie the pooh as she grew up. they lived a simple life, residing in a cottage inside the woods. april spent most of her childhood hopping around in wild grass and flowers, swimming in ponds, and eating whichever insects took her fancy that day. it wasn’t easy for her adoptive mother, she knew nothing about raising a mutant. but she did her best to find out, and april managed to grow up fairly normal. she was home schooled, and as she grew older she found ways to control her mutant traits. she only excreted her toxin when she felt threatened, and only used her tongue to tug heavy things behind her, or to catch her food. when she started becoming a teenager, she found that she was invisible one day to those around her. she’d gained the amphibian trait of camouflaging. it came in very useful whenever she wanted to sneak out or steal without being caught.
when she was old enough, april left the woods, trying to find her purpose in this world. to be honest, years later, she still hasn’t. all she’s done is steal and look for her parents, which is at a dead end. it’s why she has come to xavier’s, trying to learn more about who she is and how to control her abilities. she’s never had friends before, so everything is so very new to her and she comes off as quite the oddball. but in a loveable and charming way, besides the whole eating bugs thing. she’s kind of lost and looking for a family.
