earlier today i told an acquaintance in passing that i'll often be in the middle of a novel and think "man i wish this shit were more ambiguous" and had to reiterate twice that i wasn't being sarcastic before they believed me, so this post is to say: i love when writers don't bother to explain everything, i love when stories end uncertain and unsettling, i love being required to think as a reader, i love when stuff makes no damn sense, no i'm not kidding
pet peeve that happens more often than you would both think and want

if you can accept that there will be trans men who look virtually indistinguishable from cis women, than you can accept that there will be trans women who look virtually indistinguishable from cis men. either by choice or by circumstance. and if you can't respect them the same as you would anybody else, you need to examine why that is

This was presented to me in person after having done a 6 hour drive in the pelting rain and there was something about receiving this that immediately relaxed me in a way that I don’t think was obvious (even to myself). I felt like I should have cried but instead I felt warm and it was something I felt for the first time after the release of SWC. There were many times I felt proud, happy, relief as well as many other complex and even some negative feelings, but holding this in my hands while in bed while visiting somewhere far away with some of my closest friends healed me in a way I couldn’t express at the time.

i dont know who needs to hear this but you do not need to go on a diet. you do not need to lose weight as a new year resolution. you do not need to feel shame for gaining any weight over the holidays and for enjoying yourself and the food. you do not need to tolerate diet talk after setting a boundary and if someone cant respect that then theyre being the asshole. you already have a summer body. you already are hot. theres no moral failure or shame in being fat

not enough people stop to really digest that plants are Living Things and what that really Means. just because they dont have the same bodies and receptors and sensations as animals doesnt make them like robots or like anything lesser. they are still alive. no they arent humans, but trees will transfer nutrients through their roots to make sure other trees survive even through being cut and smothered. they can identify their own offsprings. plants Move. much slower than animals in many cases, but they move on their own. they cannot feel pain as we know it, but they do know when damage has been done to them and react to environmental stressors. they have sap to drip and heal their wounds just as we have blood.
the way plants experience life, we cant even comprehend fully, and that does not make it lesser. you cant justify that theyre lesser by lack of a brain, there are plenty of sea creatures that dont have brains either, yet they move more akin to animals, akin to our narrow view of what being alive should look like, and are given more inherit respect than plants get because of it. plants breathe. they eat. they move toward the sun just like we do. they know when we touch them. they arent conscious as we know it, but neither are jellyfish. you can say theyre just reacting to stimulus, but thats what every living thing does, isnt it? a bundle of reactions to whats around us firing off? what makes a plant less important because its world doesnt look like ours, its experience so different and thus impossible to understand and difficult to study.
plants are complex and have an entire world they see through that is unlike anything we as animals can comprehend. im not saying you should feel bad for eating plants. its unavoidable that for everything that is alive to continue living, it requires eating something else that it alive. its can be plants or animals or both. but i do also think viewing plants as inheritly lesser than animals is unfair and disrespectful to the living things that make up so much of the world and our diets. it really makes me sad when they are treated like something that isnt alive, like they arent a sacrifice to keep living too.

I'm really tired of binary trans people with conforming pronouns getting angry about being asked their pronouns in trans social groups.
This is not for you.
This is not to make you specifically feel a certain way.
This is for people whose pronouns (or gender) can't get deciphered from their presentation. This is for nonbinary people who look identical to you, or somehow else, but still can't nonverbally send a message about their identity, because there are no developed normative ways of presentation for types of nonbinary.
If you can put together a coherent outfit and set of mannerisms that unambiguously tells everyone familiar with norms of feminine and masculine how you want to be called, good for you, but many other people can't. It's not their fault that they can't. You didn't try better than them, you didn't suffer more than them, you didn't do anything to get validation on their expense in a place that's supposed to treat us all equally.
I'd rather you experience a momentary inconvenience of being asked and then we all are addressed the way we want, than you have all the satisfaction of being correctly sorted into he or she at a glance while your fellow trans people are being blatantly misgendered.
