American Silence: The Photographs of Robert Adams

Adams’ exhibition was divided into three sections - The Gift, Our Response, and Tenancy. I will be discussing my interpretation of the exhibition.

I have to say this is by far one of my favorite photography exhibitions that I’ve ever experienced thus far. Soon as I walked into the exhibition I felt a sense of melancholy, but I think that was Adams' entire purpose…

I think the exhibition took us through a journey of the beauty and fragility of nature, the silence and stillness American scenery and nature instills in us, and our insufficient response to take care of this same space that provides us peace and quietness. The reason I chose these four photographs was because of the silence that I felt instantly when viewing them. They all are best depictions of stillness and silence in nature in different forms because here we see the silence that is instilled in us when we are one with nature, when the world is silent, when we are alone with ourselves, and when the earth is alone.

i was really in a good mood because this was the third art exhibit i went to this day. this exhibit was the most influential and touching to me because the art was created by young incarcerated kids.
