Can we talk about how effing sweet the new Mickey Mouse cartoons are? They actually have given Mickey and Minnie personality again, especially Minnie. Considering sheâs always just been a âblank slateâ and a damsel in distress, they turned her into this funny, slice-of-life character who is more than just Mickeyâs girlfriend, a.k.a. what she started as. Thatâs not even mentioning the fact thereâs Minnie-centric cartoons where, unlike most of the time, Minnie isnât a fashionista or doing some stereotypical girly stuff, sheâs doing slapstick and action just like Mickey is. Both of them also arenât the âperfect role modelsâ theyâve always been, and poke fun at how âperfectâ they are. Itâs refreshing to see they turned Minnie from a girly girl to an actual fleshed-out character just like Mickey, Donald and Goofy.
