what if Gray Wing killed Clear Sky and the second half of dawn of the clans was about the actual establishment of Clan customs and him being the reason behind a lot of rules
like, Gray Wing's biggest flaw was being Clear Sky's biggest fan, which practically everybody in-universe has criticised him for. so after [insert dramatic event] then he really starts thinking about it and wondering to what extent he messed up. at this point, he's not really anyone's leader, but he can feel the levels of trust and respect his groupmates have for him draining every day because he keeps siding with the bad guy
then comes the battle and Clear Sky is being monstrous as he does. Gray Wing knocks him over and and Clear Sky says Gray Wing's famous line in an attempt to get him to spare him. and then Gray Wing says something cool like "There is no more talking to the stars, for there are no more clear skies" and then he kills him and then oh look there's the credits
after that Gray Wing is still trying to reconcile his feelings of doing the right thing and doing too little too late and killing his own brother. he can feel his groupmates starting to feel less tense around him because he finally took action for once, which feels good, but at the expense of the fact that. oh man. he just killed his own brother. insane. blah blah blah something written in the warrior code about connection to your current clan being more important than connection to your family and what have you
i think the more Gray Wing struggles with what happened, the more likely he is to be more active in certain political issues and at the same time become the cause for increasingly restrictive and dumb rules to be imposed to the point that everyone goes "idk man i don't really like this"
Gray Wing, of course, is not happy with this, because by his own words, he's "just trying to keep everyone safe," as a way to repent. he's definitely not happy when Thunder compares him to Clear Sky for being too controlling, even if it's in a "benevolent" way instead, and he snaps at him for this vague disloyalty he's sensing from him, asking him if he's going to turn on Gray Wing again after he chose Clear Sky the first time
and then stuff happens and stuff. i think that's all i could come up with in like fifteen minutes
