I’m looking for a Brittany/Santana fanfiction that I read on Fanfiction.net (I think it was on that website). It was quite short, probably only around five chapters.
She starts college in a field related to computer science or gaming, and that is where she meets Brittany. They quickly fall in love and even decide to get married while they are still students. They live together in an apartment.
However, Santana’s mother starts putting doubts in her mind. She tells Santana that she should think carefully about getting married because Brittany is her first real relationship, that she hasn’t really experienced life yet, and that she might regret not having explored other possibilities.
Around that time, Brittany has to leave for Paris for a dance internship. Santana doesn’t try to stop her, and Brittany leaves. I don’t remember exactly whether they officially break up or if they are just taking a break, but Santana struggles a lot with the situation.
While Brittany is away, Santana starts flirting with a girl from her history class. After several days of flirting, they end up kissing, and Santana immediately realizes that she has made a huge mistake.
She then contacts Brittany’s sister (I think her name is Emily), who still lives with their parents, and asks her to try to reach Brittany. Santana wants to explain what happened, but she eventually understands that Brittany is heartbroken and that she won’t come back: she decides to stay in Paris.
The story then jumps forward five years.
Five years later, Santana has graduated and is still living in her apartment. She never truly got over Brittany and never really dated anyone else. She adopted a dog named Marshmallow, whom she found in the trash on the street, and she lives with him.
Then Brittany comes back after five years. Since she doesn’t have anywhere to stay, she asks Santana if she can stay with her for a few days. I think she also comes back because she wants to return to the old apartment where they used to live together when they were younger.

One more detail I remember: I think the title of the fanfiction may have included the word “mistake”. I’m not completely sure, but it might have been something like “The Worst Mistake I’ve Ever Made”, “The Best Mistake I’ve Ever Made”, or simply something with the word “Mistake” in the title. I’m not certain about the exact title, but I feel like that word was part of it.
