Don't let the warnings put you off this one -- the age difference between Arthur and Merlin when they first meet is deftly handled and there's no underage sex or sexual abuse involved. The story is beautifully done: bby!Merlin isĀ adorable and his crush on young!Arthur is very sweet. I love the atmosphere of this, the way the restaurant becomes central to the unfolding story and the richness of the descriptions as it builds. Especially enjoyed the way they meet again as adults and deal with the unexpected sparkage between them.Ā

Merlinās been in love with Lance for years, but he hasnāt had much experience dating and he wants to figure out the ins and outs of dating before Lance comes back into his life. Cue Arthur and his manwhoring ways, ready and willing to show Merlin the ropes.
Fake relationship fics are a fandom staple, and this is no exception. Like the title says, Merlin's just looking for a "practice" boyfriend, and hey, Arthur will sleep with anyone that moves, so it's a win-win situation, right? Or, you know, not. What I love about this fic is how careful Arthur is with Merlin, always checking that he's comfortable and treating him with unfeigned gentleness (we all should be so lucky) and how relatable Merlin's awkwardness and lack of experience are. Both of the characters are lovely and the relationship that grows out of it is slow-building but well worth the wait.

I read this whole thing in one sitting and I regret nothing. It's a Dirty Dancing AU, with archery instead of dancing, and it's beautiful. Clint and Phil are perfect together, and I have a lot of feelings over Clint and Natasha's friendship.

As soon as it hit me that I shipped Tommy and David (that took way longer than it should have) I went on a quest for fanfiction, and this is my favorite of the ones I've found. I love that it really kept in mind what things would be like for a speedster, and David's reaction to it was great. And it's repeatedly hilarious, mostly courtesy of Tommy.

It isnāt easy to pursue a relationship with someone you need to play Pictionary with just to chat to, but with a little help from Charlesā telepathy, the two language-barrier lovers are determined to make it work.
This is so adorable and I almost started squealing out loud multiple times. I recommend keeping Google translate open on this one, unless you can read German, because Erik says some very sweet things. Beautiful romance and precious characters.

Immortality was never something Arthur Pendragon had wanted. Merlin didn't give him that choice. As the rest of the world reincarnates, blissfully oblivious, Arthur continues, waiting for the one man who never came back.
I love the way this fic plays with the original legends; instead of Merlin being immortal, it's Arthur who cannot die, but he's not the only one - there are others like him, drawn from legends and fairytales, struggling to fit into the modern world (or not). Arthur's loneliness and the weariness of immortality are well-drawn here, and although I felt the ending was maybe a bit abrupt, I think that's mostly because I wanted it to go on forever. One of my favourite reincarnation fics in this fandom.

He always takes the midnight train, a tall redhead with big blue eyes and a wide, thin mouth. He barely makes it and Alex has found himself sticking a foot out to hold the doors open for him more than once. He never says thank you, even as twice became three, four, five more times but he always smiles and nods like Alex was doing him a huge personal favor as opposed to just being a half decent person exercising public courtesy (Is it still public courtesy if you do the same thing for the same person over and over?)
So the Sean Cassidy/Alex Summers tag has always been sorely lacking so when I came across this fic I pretty much died of excitement. It's one of those stories where it's an AU, but not really and not quite. The writing style is absolutely gorgeous and flowing and it's one of the best interpretations of Sean and Alex I've read in a long time so it's a must read in my book.Ā

This fic is exactly what Spideypool should be. It's short, but it captures Wade perfectly, both in the "hilarious mercenary" way and the "please let me hug you, poor thing" way. Peter is his usual sarcastic self, while also being thrown off by Wade being Wade. Plus it pulls off that fantastic combination of hot and adorable, and I'm not sure what more you could want.

This is a wonderful fic - every time I read it, it makes me so sad and so happy at the same time. The writing is quite sparing, so that not much of Arthur's background is actually revealed, but it's so skilfully done that you can't help hearing everything he doesn't say loud and clear. The relationship is absolutely lovely as well. A quiet, empathetic little coming-out story that's perfect from start to finish.

Dean Winchester is pretty sure that he's got it made. He gets to spend his days on film sets as a production assistant and sure, his job may involve a lot of fetching coffee and saying "yes sir" to complete assholes but hey, it could be worse. All in all, life is pretty darn good.
And then one day, he arrives on the set of Heavenly Warfare, the adaptation of a best-selling book by some first-time author named Castiel Milton. Mr. Milton is brusque (to put it lightly), wears suits regardless of the temperature and is very, very determined that the film will adapt his novel to the letter. Needless to say, things don't go as planned and as the production gets more and more complicated, Dean gets to know Castiel better and realizes that, underneath the trench coat and perpetual scowl, there's a fascinating person who isn't nearly as ornery as he may seem.
Still, becoming Castiel's friend? Well, that process is nearly as complicated as that of making a movie.
The season two episode "Hollywood Babylon" got me wondering what would happen if Dean really was a PA which lead to thoughts of Cas. This is what I found. It's a little bit of a long fic but it doesn't feel like it. There's a nice slow build to their relationship and I almost wish there was more.
