Welcome to my mildly shady alleyway! As an introduction, I am a fanfic writer on ao3 (username: NonExistent19), and on here I usually post head canons or updates on my current WIP. I will warn you that I usually hyper fixate on one character for a while before burning out, so don't get too comfortable with me being active.

Malcolm Pace's fatal flaw is envy to me (which of course clashes with Annabeth's hubris) and he is Athena's 2nd favourite child while Annabeth is the 1st favorite.
The problem with being the 2nd favorite child is that you will always wonder why you're not good enough to be THE favourite. So he pushes himself so far and compares himself to her so much because of that envy.
He is this close to recreating Cain and Abel (considering what happened with Daedalus and the fact he'd have to deal with Percy, he probably shouldn't😭)

i know he was SICK when she came back from the moa quest and succeeded. like TO ME all athena kids are hand crafted by athena with the drive to do...something for her. they aren't aware what the quest entails exactly but they're all born with this innate desire to be used by her, to be her tool, to be of use to her. and athena kids for generationsssss are begging chiron for a quest (the quest and he knows what it is but he can't tell them that so he just sighs and goes "one day..." and they get so determined and push themselves so hard, not knowing what exactly they're training for).
and annabeth starts going on all these quests and then even gets one herself from the oracle but that itch still isn't scratched bc the quest hasn't been completed and her siblings are sick bc they're pushing themselves so hard and struggling with the same itch and desire but she's getting all the glory and attention and they're just being passed over. and then athena selects her for the quest and she fucking succeeds and comes back alive.............doing exactly what all of them have been craving to do their entire lives...........one of athena's main motivating factors for having children at all............
ESPECIALLY if. #2me in my heart of hearts. athena stops having children all together after annabeth succeeds. annabeth is exactly what athena was looking for for generations and made all of them to be but none of them could measure up to annabeth, none of them could make her as proud as annabeth can. UGH. UGHHH.
esp x2 with post canon annabeth-athena again #2me where annabeth scorns athena for what happened and blames her and kind of hates her and argues with her and hurts athena and is blatantly disrespectful to her because annabeth says in moa that every child of athena learns quickly to never question their mother and to never doubt her and that she's never wrong because athena's pride and wrath is something to fear and dread. but post canon annabeth genuinely doesn't care anymore and is so angry with athena that she'll argue with her until she's blue in the face and athena just takes it. she doesn't punish annabeth for it. partially because she's her daughter and she loves her but also mainly bc she's her pride and joy and she can't do wrong in her eyes now. but let anyone from cabin six express any amount of annoyance against her and athena's disappointment and disapproval is made incredibly obvious.
the way god favored abel blatantly and scorned cain for not sacrificing to his satisfaction.........athena blatantly favoring annabeth and shows something between indifference and disapproval to her other children for not measuring up to her standards..................
malcolm being annabeth's mirror just two seconds behind is sooooo. like he and annabeth are almost twins and often get confused as one another. they're real close in age with annabeth only being a few days older than him. him getting to camp right after her so when it comes to picking a head counselor it immediately gets given to annabeth instead of him. annabeth beating him on the climbing wall by like half a second. chiron pulling out new weapons for training and annabeth is struggling through it just like he is and he gets so excited and determined to figure it out before her and as he's focused on his wielding of the tool he hears chiron congratulate and praise annabeth on figuring it out so quickly.
ESP x3 with chiron favoring annabeth so heavily. like she genuinely sees him as a pseudo father figure in a way and she was a year rounder since she was seven and i know chiron took her under his wing and probably favored her at least a little over everyone else. so it's not just athena favoring her but also chiron. then the big three kids exist and thalia favors annabeth, and percy favors annabeth, and nico...is fond of annabeth. he favors percy lowkey but i'm thinking of that botl scene where she asked him smth and he agreed so easily and even percy gave annabeth a look about it. ntm luke himself favoring annabeth enough to overpower kronos for her?????? shut uppppp omg
like what is it about her that has her so highly favored while malcolm is so overlooked? why isn't he enough?
In the tbotl is the mark of Athena au, does Jason still get kidnapped and memory wiped? If not, then what happens to Piper and Leo if they don’t have Jason to save them from falling off the Grand Canyon? And how does the prophecy of 7 go?
Jason and Percy do NOT get their memory wiped as it would no longer help as both camps know them and it wouldn't help relations like Hera wanted. Therefore, I basically gotta rewrite HOO books 1-3. Piper goes to the school as normal, however Leo is suffering horribly
As Gaia's plans are off the rails and going absolutely horribly since now she can't even attack the Greek camp with the statue guarding it. So in the chaos of gods nearly losing to Typhon (due to form conflict) and the begrudging joint fight with both camps and Kronos. She kidnaps Leo, the demigod she had the most interaction with. It wasn't hard with him being a runway foster kid and he just...slips through the cracks
From there, Gaia traps him with her for a year and dangles the promise of reviving his mother over his head. She trains him to become her double agent with the sole purpose of destroying the Athena Parthenos. His fire related trauma is simultaneously better and worse as now he can use it consistently but damn is he not having a good time
When Hera is trapped, she knows who has to save her so TLH trio is untouched. This does mean she somehow has to get Leo out of Gaia's watch and to camp. She does this by just leaking her plans to get Piper into camp when Gaia is listening. Hence Gaia "hijacks" it to also dump Leo in there. Jason on the other hand, shows up just in time to save them. As he meets Rachel, the current oracle of Delphi, and makes her spit out a prophecy
So he's the one that's searching for the forge and dove mentioned in the prophecy. He denies any of the current ones because something in his head screams that they're not the one. Hera visits in a dream to tell him that his questors don't even know they're demigods yet so he needs to find them. This does mean the trio has to make their friendship organically as there's no false memories. Gaia's plan to get Leo to sabotage the statue is temporarily foiled by his quest but she allows it due to it probably giving him trustworthiness
Leo finds Festus not because he was looking for him but because of his visits to an isolated area to talk to Gaia. TLH is better and worse as Jason and Leo are actually train but Leo is also trying to sabotage the mission so. Piper has to deal with a slowly growing inferiority complex as she's by far the least trained of the 7. She's constantly comparing herself and Annabeth/Reyna. Jason and Leo are also crash coursing her into powers
In this she's also pushed into a mediator role where she has to calm Jason after Leo "accidentally" messed up something. And instead of being upset over it, since she's so clearly outclass in fighting she finds it fascinating at how much power her words hold. Even without charmspeak she's able to soothe or flare their emotions. And at heart, she's a trouble maker when things don't go her way. So maybe she eggs them on once or twice, enough to become attach to the power it gives her over these two literal powerhouses
The senators kick up a fuss as the Greeks keep getting their campers to serve "Greek" quests. So they make a demand that as Jason's quest is going on, the Greeks must do one of theirs. And a statue for a statue is pretty even, so they're assigned to retrieve the lost golden eagle. They demand that the strongest Greek must take on the quest. When Annabeth volunteers, they shut it down immediately and demand Percy. As a subtle downplay of Annabeth for being rejected so publicly and a powerplay as they're taking her lover
He agrees despite CHB loud anger, on the condition that he gets to choose which Romans accompany him (they don't trust a full greek team). He can't take Reyna as she's the only Praetor left and he doesn't like her in this au much anyway. So he takes Hazel and Frank, who he's befriended during his time moping in CJ. Hazel since she's the daughter of Pluto and needs to be accepted. Frank because he has something to prove
As for MOA, redeeming Leo becomes the main goal. Since at the end of SON he still fires on CJ because of Gaia's orders. He runs away with the ship too so they kinda need that as well. But how are they keeping up with a ship that flies and is way faster them? That's right! The LABYRINTH that's canonically worldwide and the laptop that barely got used before it was lost in Tartarus!! We're back in BOTL again!! The 7 - Leo actually get to bond over this
With the Daedalus laptop, Annabeth has some control over the labyrinth because that's what should've happened. She's not good enough to completely keep them safe but it's enough to choose their destination and get there in a timely manner. They're also dealing with the Nico situation and trying to fully unlock everyone's powers. Percabeth still falls into Tartarus since Gaia decided their blood isn't needed enough to justify having two major issues RIP and replaces them with Jason and Hazel as her targets
So we get the 7 - Percabeth after redeeming Leo. Nico is here too but he's sent off to meet Reyna to calm the absolute shitstorm they left behind with Leo firing on the city. Both camps are on tentative (read: barely holding it together) peace as they all know how much their fighting affects the god (see: Typhon almost beating the gods due to their infighting)
HOH is mainly Percabeth in Tartarus, everyone being on thin ice around Leo, and Piper deciding to trust him one more time then manipulating everyone to do the same. Also more Frank and Hazel stuff but I'm sleepy
BOO is camps reconciling due to Reyna and Nico so the gods actually have a chance, Giant fight that's more climatic as the gods are flickering, Gaia fight, and Leo still sacrificing himself to redeem himself in his mind

Baby Annabeth getting muzzled for being too feral and biting people
Being a teacher and seeing this 5 year old vault over a table to bite another student before twisting away so perfectly you can't help but think she was trained: "I am NOT paid enough for this"
I think Fredrick would get a lot of looks for muzzling a toddler tho so he uses teething items. He just tells her to use it when she thinks about biting someone. She bites through 3 in the first week. Helen with the twins on the line however...
One of the babies just wouldn't stop following and tugging on Annabeth. To the point of her falling and tumbling down constantly. So she's alright frustrated and wary. When they reach out to yank on one of her curls, she acts before she can think better of it. Teeth sinking into skin hard enough to break it. As babies do, they shriek. Helen sees Annabeth stepping away with blood on her mouth and one of her babies screaming hell with a injured finger
Greek version of camp Jupiter’s brand but it’s children of Athena being born with weird birthmarks or birth scars/tattoos that look like the mark of Athena coin or just Athena’s symbols in general, like a spear or owl and such.
Athena cabin be posting "fellas is it a sign that your mother loves you if she marks your very being with her claim??"
I think it be a point of pride and competition between them actually. More detailed or larger marks are seen as more favor. Maybe they're consider as a sign of what domain they take after the most. I think they'd brag about it to other cabins to make them jealous. They have a personalized sign/placement of one on their body by their mother. That's more than what 70% of other godly kids could say as only the talented ones could get a gift
As for the coin, I think when they're gifted the coin it should feel searingly hot and imprint itself onto their palm. Annabeth has to open her hand and see the burnt in reminder of that quest bc I want her to suffer a little bit. For her original one I want to give her an owl one specifically. Since I see that tailored to the wisdom domain (I hc Annabeth like 60% wisdom and 40% warfare if that makes sense???) and since owls are like the workers (idk how to word it better) of Athena. Much like how Annabeth is a hero of Athena
Still, I can't decide between a subtle owl mask on her face or wings on her back. A claim so blatant that Annabeth couldn't hide it or one so grand that's hidden beneath her shirt. A thing she has to trample over (with it being faint) or expectations so high it'll suffocate her to think about reaching them. The mask would piss of Luke real badly though...
Mmmmm to be mean I think one of her kids should get a spear wound over their body where Athena stabbed Pallas lmao
So what you are saying is that Percy is getting a taste of his own medicine with Annabeth/Reyna/Jason friendship in knock Annabeth down AU? Like the feeling like being left behind and thinking she was dead was just canon Annabeth experience during botl.
Also I feel so sorry for Annabeth-she must have become Gaia Nr. 1 enemy in this AU. She must have grand ol' time when HoO kick in.
You mentioned that they where surprised that Annabeth wasn't found by romans before in California. This is funny because I recently came upon an unfinished fic where Reyna and Jason during a mission find Annabeth just when Luke is trying to convince her to run away.
Someone had to come out of BOTL feeling abandoned and I couldn't do it to my girl again RIP Percy
But yeah Percy is getting left out although he deals with it differently as he clings harder to Annabeth instead. As his issues comes from his self worth issues instead of the constant fear of abandonment. Where as Annabeth cut herself off so she could accept it as she abandoned him and not him leaving her (not that it worked well), Percy thinks that he can prove that he's better if she would give him another chance. He clings fiercely to his loved ones so he wouldn't back down or step away. Which is sort of hard when he still doesn't want to be reminded of the war
I don't think Percy would put one and one together and see that this is how Annabeth felt during the school year for a little bit. As he sees Annabeth throwing herself into the war and not out of it, not knowing that he's the thing she's avoiding (both from not having to confront his eventual death and needing space). Not until they get their shouting match that's basically the most therapy and communication they can do at this moment
Plus thinking she was dead for a good while did not do him any good. This and the kidnapping has him realizing that despite being the child of the prophecy Annabeth seems to be in more danger than him (+ he's seeing it through panicked eyes so his brain is making worse than it is). But things work out eventually
Annabeth gets personally singled out by Gaia to the point of specific assassination attempts on her. For revenge and as she's one of the key points of the Greek & Roman partnership. The Greeks and Romans outside of the main cast are NOT getting along after all. Seeing as the Romans are trying to force their customs on the Greeks (+ their use of Greek as derogatory word and actually having knowledge of the war between the camps) and the Greeks are acting intentionally obtuse. So a lot of things hinges on Annabeth, Jason, and Reyna to work things out
Even just in the year between wars, all three of them get assassins in an increasing frequency. So HOO where monsters can't die is genuine hell for all of them

big owl eyed annabeth studying percy curiously bc its been decades since a demigod child of poseidon has been born and there’s oddities about him that differ him from the other demigods at camp. he’s like her guinea pig (pun intended atp) that she likes experimenting on. she finds him hiding out in a tree for some alone time and she climbs up quietly beside him until he notices her and freaks out, almost falling from that height before catching himself, but she just pushes him off and looks over to study him groaning on the ground, winded and gasping for breath. she takes notes in a notebook. he is SO annoyed. she hasn’t had this much mental stimulation in a while. she’s having the time of her life.
she loved his gateway arch trick. fell from 600+ feet and only healed? no injuries? she jotted that down in her notebook the second she saw him climb out of the river. once they became friends, she DID sit him down in the infirmary and dosed him with various poisons and venoms just to see how his body reacted to it and how long it took to kill him. she also fed him loads and loads of nectar and ambrosia and took his temperature consistently to see how much he could consume before burning up. she’s used a regular steel blade on him and timed how long it took the wound to start to heal itself compared to a regular demigod. he’s exasperated beyond belief but knows it’s better to go along with her plans rather than fight her on it. she’s getting her answers whether he likes it or not. its just the easy way or the hard way. this is the easy way.

In the au where Annabeth was given the statue quest instead of Labyrinth, how did Annabeth/Reyna/Jason side-quest went? Like what did they face, how their friendship developed e.c.t? How is Percy's relationship with Reyna and Jason in this AU?
There's a lot of Annabeth going "oh boy my fond childhood memories" except it's her when she was on the street alone and scrambling away from monsters. Reyna (being raised on a magical island and placed in the background when compared to her sister and then pirates) and Jason (wolves. then being immediately socially isolated whether from being Jupiter's son or choosing the 5th legion) has not so normal social upbringing and respond to this by going "yeah me too, hey did you also experience negligence?"
They're a lot like that one meme where it's like "wow these two are weirdos thank god I'm the normal one here" and that is their collective thought process
But as for their quest, they're following in past Annabeth's footsteps. Guided by Annabeth lingering feelings and impressions they try to find the safe haven that she's sure is their destination. As camp Jupiter is right next to San Francisco, they head over there first. (Which brings up a lot of questions on how did no one find her considering she's a demigod and right there). Where they find someone that Annabeth reacts strongly to and through some breaking and entering they find out he's her father
Reyna and Annabeth bond over varying levels of shitty fathers and dogs. Both of them get sad when they realize the dog in her memory is dead. Don't worry they get happy after Reyna becomes Praetor as she gets Aurum and Argentum as a gift from her mother. Afterwards they trace where Annabeth ran off and lived on the streets
Annabeth and Jason get their bonding moment as they both find out how they had to grow up at a young age. Learning things by themselves of with limited help and no (human) grown up to help. They bond more when Annabeth gets her memory back of becoming (unofficial) leader of camp at a young age
Jason and Reyna get some suspicion on who's her godly parent with Minerva giving the quest and Annabeth reliving her paranoia with spiders. But they dismiss it as Minerva doesn't have children. Their travel is mostly linear to Annabeth's life although it is broken up by quests coming to mind in different places. There's more tension nearing the end as Annabeth remembers "oh shit I'm Greek not Roman" but as she's quite literally leading them to camp + her mother gave this quest, she does tell them before getting to camp
As for the enemies they face, it's a lot of monsters as asleep Gaia is trying to stop them. She can't have that statue and camps reuniting before she even fully woke up after all. Another issue they face is a bunch of Titan army demigods. Especially when they find out that Annabeth has amnesia so Luke is set on bringing her back while Kronos is allowing it seeing how much control over Percy she has even unknowingly (+ seeing Percy crashout due to her being dead means he would have an advantage if he shows him that she's alive and uses that to bargain a deal with him still shocked)
Percy treats Jason and Reyna very neutrally. He does not like them. Sure he's incredibly grateful that they brought Annabeth back alive and saved her from falling into Tartarus. But he's uncomfortable with the fact that he doesn't know her like they do. Yeah he's the one who understands the pressure and trauma that the quests put on her. But she never told him details about her childhood, at least not the chunk with Luke in them
Reyna and Jason don't have a history with Luke like he does, at least not enough to immediately react negatively/disbelievingly to his name or actions. Percy also gives Fredrick grace since he had a loving mother who tried her best. He's familiar with physical abuse not emotional neglect (plus I don't think he really worked through the emotional abuse that Gabe put him through at this point even). Reyna sometimes does this too but she also understands how the neglect and pressure affected Annabeth.
They're privy to a part of Annabeth that he isn't. And it brings up a lot of his self worth issues as he sees this as her not needing him anymore. With Annabeth pouring her focus into the Greek-Roman alliance, it seems as if she's abandoning him for her shiny new friends. (As Reyna and Jason are their main point of contact due to being Praetor and having been at camp) Seeing how the Romans worship Jason for being a son of Jupiter also brings up buried feelings of Thalia's reappearance he never worked through
This leads to a lot of hot and cold from him as depending on his moods/feelings he can go from greeting them warmly to trying to pick a fight (go ocean temperament)
Love how everyone reading this cozy comedy manga about friendship and found family's collective reaction to this dude potentially fucking up our MC's good time is
