Robin decides to climb up to Steve’s window one night so she can talk to him about something. Keen to avoid calling and risk accidentally waking up his parents, and she’d also just prefer to talk in person.
She starts knocking on the glass of his window, and Steve wakes up in a panic at the sound. He rips open the curtains, clutching his baseball bat, expecting to see some freaky creature or psycho killer or something —but is instead met with the nervous face of his best friend, dressed in sweatpants and a bomber jacket zipped over her pyjama shirt. She’s waving her hands around and whisper shouting:
“Wait wait wait, Steve! It’s me! It’s just me, fuck-“
He curses and drops the bat. “Jesus Christ Robin, what the fuck are you doing?!”
She goes on to explain that she wanted to talk to him about something and didn’t want to risk waking up his folks, and that it was too important to wait until morning, and—
Just then, she sees in her peripherals a rustle of something moving in Steve’s bedsheets behind him. Her eyes go wide, and she looks at Steve with a tinge of regret behind her eyes, and a very heavy sign of embarrassment.
“Oh god, wait. Do you have… company??” She asks, bending her fingers to add quotations and nudging her head in the direction of his bed. Just incase he didn’t get the ‘message’.
Steve’s eyes go wide and his face heats up a bit. Because— well, no. He doesn’t have company company. But he does have Eddie Munson sleeping in his bed right now after a late night hangout turned into a ‘oh you can just crash here, my parents aren’t home, I don’t mind, it’s no problem, I sleep better with someone else being there anyways-’.
He doesn’t really know how to explain that to Robin right now, and is unfortunately aware deep down of how this may look to her prying eyes. He just sighs and waves her off, like she’s insane for thinking so, and steps to the side as the man himself scrambles out of bed to see what’s going on.
He’s rubbing his eyes, and his shirt has got all twisted around his torso during his sleep.
Wait, what? Fuck— back on track, Steven!!
“No Robin! Jeez, it’s just Eddie.”
Her eyes still widen in surprise, like that is more confusing to her than Steve having some random girl staying over in his bedroom. Eddie comes up to the window, confused and a little sheepish, rubbing his neck and offering a wave.
“Urm, hello? Robin, what’s uh- what’s going on right now?” His eyes are flicking between hers and Steve’s, searching for an explanation, and his voice is a little grumbly and laced with sleep. Steve just gives him a shrug, and says as Robin regains her composure:
“We’ve got an intruder, apparently. And a really bad one, at that.”
“Just get inside, would you?” Steve demands, with no real heat in his voice, just some put-on exasperation. He opens the window a little higher for her to be able to slip through. “I don’t really wanna be held responsible when you fall off and break your neck.”
