Like, the joke is that you telling other people to not get pregnant because they might end up with someone like your kid. You are saying your child is bad, plain and simple, you are saying they are not worth existing because of what they did. You are ridiculing them in front of millions of strangers

This is just a concealed "I hate my child" joke. This is humorous "you ruined my life". Stop it. Why would you do that? And you might think it's fucking funny but kids generally do not understand adult humor. I never found my mom's jokes funny growing up. They made me self-conscious and constantly ashamed of my existence. Like, god forbid your child inconveniences you. God forbid they damage your material possessions

You know the way people speak about birth and pregnancy sometimes bothers me. It may seem like processing your own fears but often it sounds like disgust. Some comments lowkey imply that being pregnant is gross and giving birth is gross... but many people have these experiences

Back in the day it was disgusting to talk about female problems like menstruation or even body parts. Having your partner when you give birth to your child was unconventinal and not even allowed in many cases. And the argument was that it's too scary and too gross. Women were left alone with such things. And now seeing other women saying how they can't get over their fears and treating pregnancy and birth as anything but horror makes me wonder. How do pregnant people feel reading those comments? How it feels to see your experience described as something repulsive, undesirable and life-ruining?

SIMPLE GUIDE:

Body Horror: Things that cannot happen in real life. EX: The Thing, stomach mouths, eyes on hands, etc

Gore: Fresh injuries, often severe. EX: Severed leg, gutspill, deep gashes, etc

NEITHER: Healed injuries and burns, congenital differences, missing appendages, etc. If I could theoretically go to the store and see that character browsing the isles- It isn't body horror or gore. That's just a person. *AND the amount of people that tag, not just fictional characters, but real human beings as body horror is staggering. Its not solely a fandom issue, ableism and bigotry against anyone that looks sufficiently "different" is prevalent in real life and has devastating consequences.

Pregnant people are not body horror.

Burn scars are not body horror, that includes chemical burn scars.

Prosthetics are not body horror.

NOT having prosthetics is also not body horror.

There is no disability aid that is body horror.

Congenital differences + disabilities are not body horror.

AND acquired differences + disabilities are also not body horror.

Real people are not body horror.

If you are uncomfortable or scared because someone looks different than you that is YOUR PROBLEM. It is your responsibility to get over it, or at the very least not make it everyone else's issue. Play the quiet game.
