Pursuit is our Passion

Last weekend I took Lisa out on her first elk hunt.   We took off last Thursday and headed to the mountains only for it to be a wet bust. It rained all day, nothing was coming out from trees and we ended up spending half our day in the truck keeping warm from the elements.  Day two hit and again it rained.  We were not starting out too hot, but finally as the day went on the sun started to shine.  We perched ourselves up high on the side of the mountain that overlooked a large bowl and the surrounding area.  Finally as the sun was about to go down a glimpse of yellow emerged from the trees and there was lone elk.  I ranged him at 586 yards, and told Lisa to get her bi-pods ready and take the shot.  He was quartering away and Lisa took the longest shot she had ever taken and hit him right below the shoulder to make him slump up.  She shot again and took him down.  Lisa was able to get her first elk, a nice 5x5.  I could not have been more excited and proud of her.
