Leone thinks Bruno should show some decency. Bruno thinks Leone should not invade the privacy of his room where he will do whatever he pleases. Get used to it or get out~
Leone REALLY didn't miss seeing Prosciutto. But if he thought the Baron was annoying back then, it was really NOTHING compared to now, when Buccellati gets so worked up whenever they cross paths.
The Bucci gang goes on a picnic at the Vesuvio. Yes, all of them: Macaron, the Bullets and Arrowsmith as well.
The case Leone mentions in the Diary posted on Ao3 is not yet done (maybe some day), but the fallout was graciously written by the talented @failedintsave in her 2024 Februabba Collection. ;u; <3
I have a short scene drawn from it for 2026 Februabba. :3
Look at my boy, wearing something else then his butler livery~
Armando is the object of his misplaced feelings and Sticky Finger is a mysterious individual Leone think is sus.

Usually when I pick a fic to make into a book, it’s one I’ve already finished. But this time I was about two-thirds through Disjoint by @liesonthefloordramatically when I decided I wanted to make a book out of it! Including illustrations by @anticiajk to make this binding extra pretty :3
Extra pics and a lot of yapping below the cut
This initially wasn’t going to be a hardcover binding; I was actually thinking about doing a Japanese-style binding. It’s a fairly short fic, and I already had some ideas brewing. I’d even bought some paper for that purpose and sketched some of the ideas I had. But once I knew I could use Anticia’s illustrations, I realized that that binding style wouldn’t quite allow those illustrations to shine, at least not at my current level of experience. So, I switched to a hardcover binding. Properly incorporating the illustrations into the typeset was a new, but fun experience!
I also decided this would be the book where I would try making a dust jacket. It’d be a cool new thing to try, AND a great way to simultaneously use Anticia’s cover illustration and execute some ideas of my own. It also meant I could leave out the summary page I usually include in these bindings, which felt a little weird
Disjoint is fairly short compared to most of the other books I’ve made, and for a while I wasn’t quite sure there’d be enough pages for a hardcover binding, but thankfully there were!
Making the book block was mostly quick and uneventful. Though, the thing that should’ve been the easiest part, trimming it, became the most troublesome. I don’t have the tools to trim a book block myself, so I usually let a local printing shop do it for me. However, they had closed for a few weeks, and I was under pressure to finish this book roughly within a week. I actually traveled to a nearby city to see if any print shops there could trim the book block! It was a very fun experience because my walk to both print shops took me through parts of the city I hadn’t ever seen before.
Since the dust jacket would have an illustration and the title and everything, I decided the design on the cover itself would be simple. Since the fic is about Bruno, I wanted to add elements reminiscent of his character design. The obvious choice was replicating his suit pattern, which was a nice and easy change of pace from previous cover designs.
Also! An idea left over from my initial idea and modified a bit, a reading ribbon with one of Bruno’s zippers attached to it. Like the cover pattern, it wasn’t difficult to make but I had a lot of fun. I cut out the base shape from some really thick black paper, and cut the details from some nice textured gold-colored paper, and glued those together. I thought I’d use my screw punch to make a hole to pull the ribbon through, but the hole I’d included in the cutting pattern was big enough for me to use a needle to thread the ribbon through. Once that was done, I tied the ribbon into a knot and glued the loose end to the ribbon to make things look a little neater. Probably could’ve just glued the ribbon to itself without the knot, but whatever
The dust jacket was both easier and more trouble than I expected to make. I thankfully didn’t need to adjust the illustration’s size much to have it wrap around the spine and still look good, but I still needed to reprint it a couple of times (I’d made some easily fixable goofs which showed up more obviously on paper than on my screen XD). My old-ass printer also didn’t care for the slightly sturdier printing paper I wanted to use, so I had to use regular paper instead. After all that, though, I just cut off the excess parts, folded the dust jacket around the cover. I was done, and right on time too!
This project was an absolute delight. Especially after my previous binding went awry at the very end, this was perfect to cheer me up again. Making the book block didn’t take nearly as long, and the cover design was a lot easier to figure out. At the same time, I got to try tons of new things! Integrating illustrations into the text, making a little charm to attach to the reading ribbon, and making a dust jacket! This book really feels like it’s got a bit more character when compared to some of my previous bindings, and not just because it’s a fanfic and binding centered around one fictional character in particular ;p
The Beauty & the Beast booklet will go up for preorders next week. Yeah, it's a bit sudden, I know, there's a reason. More info in my monthly plans post.

Was tagged by @liesonthefloordramatically: LINK. <3
Rules: post the first sentence of your most recent 10 fan fics and tag up to 10 people.
Tagging @failedintsave @dr-shortsighted-owl @serene-pastel @vinyama @bitchhips @jadeelephant @rhoda-pomelo @paxfacere @grubus @chimaamla if you want. Also anyone who wishes to. Great fun! ^^
I have hard time picking fic order because many wasn't posted in order, but something along these lines. I also don't have 10 published fic yet (unless you count every single 100 words ficlets separately, which I won't.)
See more under the line.
“Signor Buccellati, I can’t thank you enough!” Russo exclaims, holding out a hand for him.
10. The Poet [Unpublished yet]
I'm okay with it, it helps to paint the situation quickly without much exposition. Fairly proud I managed it through their convo. :3 (I started this fic 2 years ago and it's almost done! Almost! SEND HELP! TToTT)
Leone didn't usually hate picnics.
9. Myth (Hyacinth) - Something About Us
I hope you can sense the BUT here. :D (But I'm personally entertained because Leone absolutely grumbles at every single picnic too. :3)
Not very exciting, but it does the job.
"Thank you for gathering here."
8. Hook, Line and Sinker
It might be alright? My hope is that this raises some questions as for who and why gathered.
"And what do you call this part of the body then?"
7. Alien Tongue - A Hunder Words
Well I hope this sounds appropriately inappropriate. This is a collection of a 100 words challanges for prompts.
Back in Napoli… Let’s see if I get a job.
6. Memories from 1833 [with ILLUSTRATIONS]
I'm cackling because of the HOW it happens. But don't know if you can hear the foreboding energies without context yet. This is Leone's Diary snippets I wrote for a calendar, so I had limited space. Nevertheless it definitely sets the mood. This one is pared with Rainy Night.
“Why on earth do you have five jars of apricot jam from 1819 in the pantry?”
5. Jam
I think this one works nicely to paint a situation and also hopefully raise questions, too. Even if you don't know that 1819 was 13 years ago. You soon will. :3
Five nights ago, Leone was sitting in a rather gloomy mood at one of La Passione’s dirty tables, spending the last of his grana on cheap wine.
4. Rainy Night
Eh, this might have worked better in medias res more intensely (since it IS non linear story anyway), with this line being the VERY first sentence: "The blade pinned at Leone’s throat was sharp, but not as sharp as the voice of it’s owner: “I don’t appreciate being followed around."
Next time I might go for the bolder choice. :)
Bruno’s pocket watch is missing.
3. Gift
Hah, the mystery begins~ While it doesn't give you much context yet for the mood or why it's relevant, it once more sets up the main situation, and hopefully some intrigue, so I'm fine with it.
Bruno already got what he came for – information on the new opium trader in town – so it’s time for him to be on his way to follow that fresh lead.
2. Midnight
Again, I hope the BUT can be heard, because otherwise it doesn't feel very interesting. I noticed I do that a lot, haha: 1st sentence is the desired outcome and the next is the actual situation, the obstacle. XD
But hopefully readers stick around at least that long to fid it out. ^^
Leone was sitting in the kitchen of the Buccellati manor, sipping his usual morning black tea.
1. Drink
YAAAY baby's 1st ever published fic from the ancient 2022 hehe.
I'm afraid the situation is not very interesting at first glance, but the entire point of this story was to build it up slowly to the finale and seeing the reactions it seemed to have worked out fine. :3
Overall, might be an okay 1st line? Not much interest, but it does the job of an estabilishing shot at least.
THANK YOU FOR TAGGING ME, it was an interesting excercise. ^^
I also excluded all my comics because that's even harder to track creation order AND it being a visual medium, the 1st line most often than not is not the 1st panel which I would argue is sort of what matters the most as estabilishing it.
Maybe I'll do a "1st comic page" one at some point. :3

I finally finish this. I started it like last year or something. XD
It was a challange to make this meme makes sense even a shred in the Georgian era. :D
What happened at sideboob? I accept replies with theories. :D
